What to expect

Ginger offers a variety of concert experiences, depending on your needs, from sets that feature a variety of '80s rock hits to special "power sets" featuring popular songs by legendary bands like Heart, Rush, Styx, and more. Let us know how you like to rock, and Ginger will make it happen. Our mantra is to be as entertaining as possible - which includes proper stage wear, lots of rock star posing, and very little standing still. It's a high-energy show filled with the best rock of the era.

About

A group of colleagues at an audio company based out of Chicago (that shall remain nameless) once banded together to melt faces at a lunchtime concert. This "onwork bandsmanship" led them to form Ginger. With a vocalist who has been told countless times that she should be on American Idol, a guitarist that was informed he was "as good as, if not better than" Kim Thayil by the Soundgarden guitarist's own mother, a pointy-guitar aficionado, an accomplished classical pianist with an affinity for keytar, a drummer fabled to cause tumescence in certain listeners, and a bass player, Ginger brings the thunder with your favorite rock hits from the late '70s and early '80s. Ginger's early claim to fame was a featured spot shown on that revered music channel, Fox Business. We also have really great mics for some reason . . .

A little more about our pedigree:

Vocalist Cheryl Jennison DaProza brings decades of stage and singing experience to Ginger. In fact, she's really just moonlighting from her "day job" as the Frida-half of the ABBA tribute, Dancing Queen. Prior to that, she's spent many years belting out backing vocals with Think Floyd USA. But Ginger is where she brings the rock.

Despite her classical piano training, keyboardist extraordinaire Cat Lai secretly harbors an affinity for the schlockiest of '80s hair metal and progressive rock stylings of Styx. And we couldn't have it any other way. Between her stellar vocal harmonies and genuine '80s synth sounds, she's the glue that holds the Ginger magic together.

Guitarist Gino Sigismondi is the twisted genius that brought this beast to life. Having spend years on the other side of the mixing board, connecting with Cheryl and somehow convincing her to sing with this band of oddballs facilitated a permanent move back to the stage. In additional to driving the Ginger-bus, he also plays guitar in the Springsteen/Seger tribute, Sons of Chicago, and writes and records his own music with The Sum. He and Cat have also been known to don Spandex and eyeliner with '80s metal tribute Thundershark.

Justin Boller can play any instrument you put in front of him. His specialties are tuba and trombone, but without a good home for low brass in a rock band, we gave him a guitar instead. Come watch him shred his fingers off on his fretboard and shred his vocal cords singing high harmonies that no male singer should be able to.

Justin and drummer Matt Koshack have played in bands together since high school. So why break up a good thing up? Behind Matt's years on the skins with various Chicago alternative rock acts lies a deeply obsessed Neil Peart fanatic. Come see our "Rush Power Set" for proof! And hot off the presses, Matt was recently recruited to supply drum tracks for an upcoming release from '80s metal legends, Alcatrazz.

We also have a bass player.
