About
Janell Borrero is a speaker, financial strategist, entrepreneur, and fintech founder who helps women transform financial chaos into clarity, confidence, and power.
But the path that led her there was anything but traditional.
Raised in the inner city by a single mother, Janell learned early what survival looked like. At thirteen years old, she survived an attempted murder. By sixteen, she was displaced from her home. While many would have allowed those circumstances to define their future, Janell made a different choice.
She worked full time while putting herself through college, becoming the first in her family to graduate.
What began as survival slowly became strategy.
While building a 27 year career in finance, Janell also spent a decade building a side hustle during a difficult chapter of her life. At the time she was married to a partner battling mental illness, and the business began simply as a way to maintain stability and keep a roof over her family’s head. Over ten years that side hustle grew into a multi six figure business and proved that what started in survival mode could evolve into something much bigger.
Eventually, her marriage came to an end when her husband made the decision to divorce, and Janell found herself once again navigating the challenge of rebuilding her life.
Then life presented another moment that would change everything.
After undergoing surgery to remove a tumor from her head, Janell was forced to slow down and reevaluate the life she had built. During that same period she received late diagnoses of autism and ADHD, discoveries that helped her better understand how her mind works and why she has always seen patterns others miss.
Rather than stepping away from her work, she chose to reinvent it.
Janell entered the tech world and created MoneyPOP™, a fintech platform designed to help women entrepreneurs understand both the numbers and the psychology behind their money. She is also the founder of SHEfo®, a fractional CFO firm supporting beauty and creative entrepreneurs in building financially sustainable businesses.
Her work at the intersection of finance, psychology, and technology has already gained recognition in the startup community, including placing third in a fintech pitch competition and being named a finalist for an innovation award.
Janell also lives with PCOS, a condition that has shaped her personal journey with women’s health and infertility and deepened her commitment to advocating for women’s resilience and empowerment.
She is the author of Loving a BiPolar Bear, a memoir about love, mental health, and reclaiming personal power. She also created and hosted the podcast She Who Thrives, a platform that highlighted the stories of women who faced adversity and went on to define success on their own terms.
Today, Janell is pursuing a PhD where she researches the psychological and financial experiences of women entrepreneurs.
Her mission is to help women understand not just their money, but the beliefs, experiences, and identity that shape the way they earn it, spend it, and build wealth from it.
With dual master’s degrees, 27 years in the financial industry, and a life shaped by resilience, Janell brings something rare to every stage she steps on.
She doesn’t just teach money strategy.
She teaches people how to rewrite the story they believe about themselves.
Because Janell believes one thing above all else.
Where you start does not determine where you finish.

Influences and inspiration
Janell is inspired by women who have used their voice and vision to break barriers. As a teenager, she remembers sitting in a high school auditorium listening to a woman bravely share her life story about living with AIDS. That moment sparked something in her. It was the first time she realized the power of a woman owning her story on a stage. She quietly promised herself that one day she would do the same.
She admires Oprah Winfrey for her authenticity and cultural impact, and Mel Robbins for her direct, no-excuses approach to personal growth and practical strategy.
Her greatest influence, however, comes from the women she serves — beauty entrepreneurs, creatives, and women rebuilding their lives. Their resilience and reinvention fuel Janell’s mission to merge financial clarity with emotional strength in everything she creates.
