August 28, 2023Incredibly Talented Vibe Setter
Frank is the smooth, chill vibe you’re looking for. He’s well practiced, stylish and effortless in his music. With a background of progressive-rock that evolved over time into modern & matured jazz, he mesmerizes all who are engulfed in his sounds. “For People With Ears” is a slogan from one of Franks many music projects. I couldn’t agree more with this saying as it applies to Franks music, as anyone with ears can enjoy what this multifaceted guitarist has to offer.

About
Frank Loria was born and raised in Long Island, New York into a typical New York Italian-American family. Listening to Frank Sinatra was just as regular of an occurrence as eating pasta. Loria developed an early love and appreciation for the sound associated with Sinatra’s music. Though it wasn’t until later in life that he began to make the connection between Jazz and Sinatra.
Frank’s journey with guitar started around the age of 7 when his grandmother bought him a cheap First Act acoustic. He played it occasionally for many years to come, along with whatever other instruments he could get his hands on. But it all remained simple play.
Around the age of 11, Loria discovered Guitar Hero. He was immediately hooked. The game introduced him to a whole new side of music that he had not yet truly experienced. After convincing his father that he was going to be like Slash from Guitar Hero, his dad bought him a new guitar.
Frank played his new Epiphone Les Paul for many years to come, learning all of the coolest riffs he could think of. But again, most of this was simple play with no real direction or goal.
It wasn’t until the age of 18 that he began taking guitar seriously. At this point, he was playing for countless hours a day and absorbing as much information as he could get from the internet.
Playing alongside old friends and sitting in on jam sessions within his community, was where Frank really began to improve his technical ability. This helped him move away from his riff based beginnings towards becoming more improvisational. Through this desire of wanting to be able to improvise at a high level, Frank rediscovered his passion for Jazz music that had been hiding in his past.
After his rediscovery of Jazz, his goals became clearer for what he wanted out of the guitar. To be free to play whatever came to his mind.
Today, he continues to play in small local bands and spends most of his free time in honing his craft.
