Failing Minnesota, a Springfield MO indie rock band, strikes a similar “geek rock” tone that is found in many of the classic releases of bands like weezer. Rather than play songs about living happily ever after, Failing Minnesota strikes a chord for the everyman (and everywoman), describing the awkward and cringeworthy moments that we all have experienced. The sound is a mix of fuzzy guitars washing over pulsing rhythms, while lyrics are presented with a “brutally frank comedic streak,” (Springfield News-Leader).
The band has wasted little time since forming. Within a few months of being together, the band released its first EP “Northview,” began playing shows regionally, and was featured in an article by the Springfield News-Leader. The band is already hard at work on a follow-up album and touring, and looks to spread its geek rock charm to a town near you!
