Formed in the fall of 2013 with the soulful sounds of Stax Records, Muscle Shoals, & Motown in mind, Sioux City, IA based Emily Johnson Band puts a modern twist on classic soul and R&B while paying respect to the artists and songs that you have grown to love over the years. Reaching deep into their blues and rock roots, it was a natural progression for the members of EJB. “This is the music I’ve always heard in my head and have loved as long as I can remember” said front woman and namesake Emily Johnson. Members of the 10-piece band consisting of Emily Johnson – Lead Vocals, Mitch Martin – Lead Guitar, Christopher Buhler – Hammond B-3/Keyboards, Matt VM – Drums, Bob Birch - Bass/Vocals, Kevin Linder – Trumpet, Matt Hackett – Sax, Mark Henderson – Trombone, Tiffany Asher - Backing Vocals, & Kristopher Johnson - Backing Vocals, have performed with national acts such Jefferson Starship, Delbert McClinton, Little River Band, Devon Allman Band, & Shannon Curfman just to name a few. Focusing on feel good classic soul music such as Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Etta James, & Wilson Pickett along with modern classics from Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and Joss Stone, Emily Johnson Band is guaranteed to have something for everyone.
