Mike Romano has been hammerin' away at the dulcimer since he was a lad of 17. His first experience with dulcimer came as a majestic surprise when he saw one as a kid at a folk festival at French Creek, set in the rolling hills of PA. Right then and there, he knew he had a calling. Ever since he began playing, the hammered dulcimer has been his musical partner in his adventures through life, journeying through swampy lows, mountainous highs, and thundering skies ringing with the vibrancy of all 64 strings playing the songs that became a soundtrack to his life. Through the years he's played solo and with bands of all shades and genres, never forgetting the Celtic and folk roots of his dulcimer playing, and deeply loving the intuitive art of his composition of music for solo dulcimer.
Dulcimer Mike's career has led him to play at all kinds of events, including block parties, weddings, farmers markets, craft fairs, gallery openings, conventions, theatrical productions, birthday parties, holiday gatherings, and festivals.
Dulcimer Mike has hosted several open mic and music events, one at a coffeehouse in South Jersey, and then at a few different venues while living in Portland, Oregon! Currently he intermittently will host events in West Philadelphia surrounding visual art, music, and poetry.
