We are a small scale collaborative team of filmmakers, graphic designers, outside-the-box thinkers, problem solvers, thrill seekers—all sorts of -ers with one goal in mind: producing high quality video content that helps our clients achieve their goals.
We specialize in commercial, corporate, documentary, real estate and action sport videos. Our work is influenced by film's ability to spark emotion in the viewer. Whether it's telling someone's story, displaying how fun an event is or showing off a tasty plate of food, film is much more than just moving images and we strive to prove that.

My name is Carter Hiyama and I own a video production business here in Santa Barbara called Datsu Films. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2015 with a B.A. in Film and Media Studies and have been freelancing ever since! I'm a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to filmmaking and am able to handle many projects as a one man team, however, I am part of a small network of creatives that I can bring on to tackle any larger project!
