December 4, 2023Great performance!
Dan provided just the right amount of ambiance without being too overpowering. People were able to enjoy the music and still be able to hold conversations. His song selection was right on the money! The photo attached is Dan during sound check.

June 16, 2022What a Fun Addition to our Grad Party!
I'm so happy to have had Dan at our son's graduation party on June 5th! He is very talented and found the perfect mix of music to make everyone happy at the party. I received more compliments and comments about Dan than anything else from the party. He was a great communicator in advance of the party, confirming time and location. He arrived with plenty of time to set up so he was ready to go at the agreed to time, he is upbeat and pleasant, but most of all he is extremely talented musically. He set the tone for a great party. He was concerned with the volume being right and it is evident that he has a lot of experience and is a "pro" at entertaining people musically. I think he took two breaks during the 4 hour session, I don't know how he sang so much! Thank you Dan for making our party so special! I would hire Dan again for sure!!!

December 13, 2021Amazingly easy to work with
We brought on Dan originally as a one-man show and ended up hiring his whole band instead! Working with him was a pleasure from the start of the hiring process to the finish, despite last-minute client requests that I know would have left many other performers spinning. He performed for a grand opening party and they received so many compliments on their music! I know if I have more events in the Detroit area I'll be reaching out to Dan first - thanks so much for making our event a HUGE success!

Thanks so much for having us, Sarah. The event was great, everyone was super friendly and we really enjoyed playing the grand opening! Hope to work with you again in the future, take care!

September 27, 2021Phenomenal
We hired Dan for a party of 150 people that my girlfriend and I threw for my family and friends - covering milestone birthdays and just an excuse to get a bunch of us together that hadn't seen each other in far too long. I hope that we have another opportunity to hire Dan. He was cordial, fun, engaging, and extremely entertaining! Dan is a very talented performer, but he also managed the gig as professionally as possible, showing up exactly when he said he would, playing exactly what he was asked to, and filling in gaps with music of his choice that fit perfectly with the venue and guests. The toughest thing about this gig was picking from a list of songs that Dan provided that was several hundred songs long. Whatever genre of music you like, Dan probably has it covered. Several generations of party goers were extremely entertained. Thank you for delivering as promised, Dan! Very much appreciated!

Thanks for the kind words, Dan and thank you for hiring me! Your family and friends were wonderful to play for and I'm ready to do it again any time! Take care and I hope to see you soon :-).

What to expect
From the word "go", I am a very hands-on and responsive artist to work with. Fluid communication is the key ingredient to a successful event, and I make sure to ask all of the right questions about the type of event I'm being hired for. This practice - employed and developed through 10+ years of experience playing music for a living - ensures that I know the expectations before being hired so I'm able to deliver 100% of what is expected.
Whether it's learning a specific song for the event, managing the flow/vibe of the evening with appropriate song choices, leading your party goers in a giant string of nostalgic sing alongs, playing originals, top 40, or something in between, I have something up my sleeve for everyone!
I give my clients unlimited consultation leading up to the event, and am very welcoming when it comes to answering any questions you may have.

About
Dan Mazur is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, composer, arranger, music teacher, band leader and performer based out of Metro Detroit. Since going full time as a musician in 2008, Dan has played over 2,500 shows and passed the 200 gig mark every year for the last decade playing every type of gig imaginable from headline spots at local festivals to large concerts in the park, bar gigs, weddings, corporate events, private parties, original shows, solo acoustic performances and everything in between.
Dan has studied music extensively both on the collegiate level, and on his own earning an associates degree in Liberal Arts & Music from Henry Ford Community College in 2009, and studying Theory & Composition in the world renowned music department at Wayne State University from (phone number hidden)2. Dan has also studied privately with some of Metro Detroit's most sought after private instructors. Studying at the collegiate level, plus years of private instruction and self-motivated learning, coupled together with a rigorous performance schedule over the last decade have provided both the refined education, and real life gigging experience needed to stand out in the world of professional musicians.
Outside of an active gigging schedule, Dan has also devoted much of his time and talents to giving back to the musical community. From (phone number hidden)6 Dan taught guitar and piano privately to 25+ students a week in the Metro Detroit area, taught songwriting at the Flint Institute of Music for two semesters, and also spent a semester working with 5th graders in Flint teaching them about the songwriting process, and helping the class write and record their own original song.
In 2015, the Flint School Of Performing arts was just one of 15 arts Organizations in the US invited to participate in a project called the Carnegie Hall Lullaby Project (sponsored by the Carnegie Institute in New York). The project invites young pregnant women and mothers to work with professional artists to write a personal lullaby for their babies, strengthening the bond between parent and child. The lullabies are then professionally recorded, charted out, and shared with the mothers' families and friends. Flint School of Performing Arts selected Dan to be one of the few artists to help write, produce and record these lullabies. So far the FSPA team has written and recorded almost 50 lullabies in three years. More info can be found at (link hidden) and (link hidden). Feel free to contact Dan HERE with any questions about The Lullaby Project!
In 2016, Dan joined forces with a highly sought after Top 40 band called The Phoenix Theory. TPT is a high end, full time working cover band that performs 100+ times a year. Each member of TPT is a highly proficient instrumentalist, and beyond that, what makes the band really stick out in the sea of working bands out there, is that each member is a lead singer. The band's unique blend of vocal chops gives them the ability to perform tightly rehearsed four part harmonies. It's the music you love to hear, performed the way you remember it. Check out The Phoenix Theory and their full performance schedule HERE!
Dan's latest venture has been refining his skill set in the studio. Intermittent studio work has always been a part of the fabric that has woven together Dan's musical life, but it has never been the focal point. However, as of January 2019, through a rigorous course of study with Avid Education, Dan has officially become an Avid Certified Pro Tools User which is an industry recognized credential for both academic users of Pro Tools and industry professionals. Over the next couple of years, Dan plans to be doing lots of studio work both at home, and for hire, and will continue to advance his Avid education and become an Avid Certified Expert.
Thanks for stopping by, and if you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out any time!
