April 19, 2025We found Nick while searching for Folk/Americana music for our wedding. We were having a small wedding and we didn't expect dancing so quality music for guests to enjoy was key.
We gave Nick a handful of songs to help him gauge the vibe we were going for, and left the rest up to him, and everything was perfect. He played a mix of songs we liked, songs we knew audience would recognize/enjoy, and even sprinkled in a few originals at our request. Almost every attendee at our wedding came up to one of us to say how great the music was, even multiple people assuming we knew him because "how else would we have gotten someone this good to play our wedding".
Communication skills were off the chart, and his ability to work with limited information in the moment was amazing, as we had a handful of audibles we had to make in real time.
In the end, we could not have imagined a more perfect set of music for our wedding - he went over and above, and everyone enjoyed their time.
We look forward to when he's out and about and we can go see him play again!

He sang at the ceremony and at our cocktail reception, which were back to back and he never skipped a beat. August 23, 2024So hard to describe how fantastic Nick was for our wedding. Considering it was just our children, grandchildren and a few sibling...he catered to every age and genre imaginable. From our entrance song, the kids dance party (which was improvised on the spot) and then the adults dance party, he exceeded all our expectations! Everyone kept commenting on how fabulous and talented he was.

January 5, 2024Nick is absolutely incredible! We hired Nick along with his bassist and drummer for our wedding reception. We gave him a couple genres that we preferred (country/classic rock) along with a few artists we liked and he nailed it. We trusted Nick for all of our music and our guests’ entertainment and he far exceeded all of our expectations. Nick quickly became the talk of the reception because nobody could get over how talented he and the band were. Even weeks after our wedding, our guests continue to mention how talented the band was. Our guests also loved the personal touch that a banded added over a DJ. Some have even asked about hiring Nick for their own future events.

Nick James is an experienced singer-songwriter and performer based in Michigan. With a musical career spanning over 20 years, he has honed his skills on the guitar and has written a diverse range of original songs. One of his compositions, "This Old Town," was featured in the indie film "Kalamazoo?"
Nick is a versatile performer, having played at a wide variety of events, from intimate lakeside parties and birthday celebrations, to large corporate events and weddings. In 2018, he had the opportunity to open for Michael McDonald at the Sound Board Theater in Detroit, performing to a crowd of over 1000 people.
