Cocktail Jazz Trio

Whether entertaining your guests with jazz standards, pop tune covers or anything in between the Cocktail Jazz Trio draws on their extensive 100 years of combined performing experience to make your event great.

Pianist Jason Burmeister draws from his broad musical background. He has performed with groups of all styles from jazz (University of Northern Iowa Jazz Band One ’90-’93), rock (Mighty Nish Band), blues (Sundance and the Music In Blue, BluesMeister), reggae, to even polka-themed rock comedy show (Polka Police). Dr. Burmeister has shared the stage with greats like Matt ‘Guitar’ Murphy (famous for Blues Brothers), The Drifters, The Coasters, The Platters among others. While at U.N.I. he had the honor of playing with guest soloists Bob Berg, Donald Harrison, Sunny Wilkinson, as well as the band earning a DownBeat magazine Outstanding Performance Award.

On drums Jeff Schoening lays down tasty grooves. Besides being a retired music educator of 34 years, Jeff is a life-long performing musician with various groups including the Prairie Cats and the Gwen & Scott Band.

On bass Dylan Peters brings melodies as well as grooves to the group. He has extensively played locally (Bootleg Jukebox and the Gwen & Scott Band) as well as around the world in the Marine Corps jazz and rock bands.
