Overview

Clara Coquette is a New York based burlesque and drag performer, producer, stage kitten, go-go dancer, and model that was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan.  She is a vintage vixen, a nimble nerd, and a cunning chameleon.  Clara has a variety of burlesque acts including classic, vintage, silk and feather fan, neo-burlesque, and nerdy tributes. Clara also go-go dances and provides atmosphere modeling. Clara Coquette's looks and wardrobe can range from vintage looks of the Victorian period to the present day, pinup, steampunk, mermaid, goth, drag, circus, and other costumed themes. Clara also performs as a drag king and a drag queen. However, she only does lip-syncs, not live singing.

What to expect

Clara Coquette provides striptease burlesque entertainment with acts varying from vintage, classic, neo-burlesque, drag, and nerdy themes. A burlesque act lasts an average of 3-5 minutes, and generally consists of one song (or more, combined into a single audio track). The performer will enter the performance area and perform a choreographed striptease act, peeling off layers of costume and generally finishing the act clad only in pasties and a g-string or merkin. The level of nudity can be adjusted to fit the clients' and venues' needs. Multiple acts can be performed with additional getting ready and setup time in between.

Clara Coquette also provides go-go dancing which is a 10-30 minute improvised dance sets. Go-go costumes generally consist of a bra, thong or underwear, and short skirt or fringe belt. Music sets can be provided by the performer or by the client with performer approval.

Clara Coquette can also provide atmosphere modeling for events on its own or in addition to performances. Performer may need a few minutes post act to change before mingling. Wardrobe and costuming can range from vintage of the Edwardian era through the 20th century specializing in 1920s to early 1960s to costume themes such as Steampunk, Mermaid, Drag, Goth, Circus, and more.

Requests for specific acts or costuming outside of the performer's repertoire must be discussed during booking and additional fees may be required to meet needs.

Clara Coquette is a New York City based burlesque performer, drag performer, producer, stage kitten, go-go dancer, and model who was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She is a vintage vixen, a nimble nerd, and a cunning chameleon. She moved to New York in 2009 and stumbled upon the glamorous, glittery, and geeky world of burlesque. She has trained at the New York School of Burlesque. Clara made her performing debut in 2011 and has been balancing burlesque with her full time career in medical science research ever since. She is the producer of The Guild of Libidinous Intent: A Burlesque Tribute to the Venture Bros. and A Dream Within A Dream: A Burlesque Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe, Hold Me Closer, Tony Danza: A Burlesque Tribute to Misheard Lyrics, and the co-producer of The Persistence of Nudity: A Burlesque Tribute to Salvador Dali. Clara Coquette is also trained in drag. She has trained under Crimson Kitty at the LadyQueen University. Clara is also known under her drag king name, Clarq (pronounced Clark) Coquette. Clarq Coquette trained under Goldie Peacock at Drag King 101. Clara and Clarq have performed drag at such shows as Switch N Play, White Elephant Burlesque, BEEF show, LadyQueen Dragucation Showcase, and The Monarchs. Born out of a test tube of sparkle and spunk, the delicate darling of beakers and bunsen burners. She'll transport you back in time, the Clara Bow of Burlesque: Clara Coquette.

Additional booking notes

A secure, private dressing room and water needs to be provided for the entertainer. Setup and cleanup needs will vary per act. Performer will provide an assistant/security escort for private events. The performance area should have adequate audio equipment to play the music at a loud enough volume. Someone should also be designated to announce the performer before she appears. Audio files should be discussed beforehand; music can be provided in mp3/mp4 format by email or brought on an iPod.
