Overview
I can read the room really well and I am happy to take requests on the spot or in advance. I play all styles of music from classical, blues, country, jazz, Holiday, children’s music and rock but my true favorites are R&B and pop from virtually each decade! I can do solo guitar arrangements or sing and play guitar. I can even throw in some piano and ukulele if you so desire. I am comfortable emceeing and bringing the energy or providing background ambience! The sky is the limit as I’ve got an excellent network of musicians/friends that I collaborate with including a female vocalist, another guitarist, a trio with bass and drums and even a horn section!

Chris Newton and his band were the PERFECT choice for our New Years Eve Party! We had an audience with a widely varied age demographic but they were able to cater to everyone. All our attendees were dancing the whole time they were performing, and our Members are STILL talking about them! Super professional to work with and communicative. We'll definitely be booking again.

I hired Chris to accompany my voice for a parent mixer at an elementary school I teach at. We had 2 rehearsals a few days before the event and he even learned some new songs quickly for the show. He was always on time and a lot of fun to perform alongside. He’s knowledgeable & well-versed in reading music, chords can improvise some very classy solos! The event made for an excellent parent-mixer and a great kick-off to the school year. I highly recommend hiring Chris for any musical event!

About
Chris Newton has been performing in the Bay Area for the last 20 years with upcoming performances as a solo musician and collaborator in multiple projects. Chris is chief song-writer, arranger, vocalist and guitarist for his band Mood Jungle (DFM Records 2024).
Chris Newton first began playing guitar at the age of 13. In high school, he was managing his first bands and writing his own material with influences from Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and Stevie Wonder.
In college, Chris began studying music more seriously, learning jazz theory with instructors such as Tuck Andress, Randy Vincent, Gary Digman and Bennett Friedman. He received his AA in Jazz Studies from Santa Rosa Junior College and his Bachelor's of Music from Sonoma State University.
Over the years, Chris has written several hours of original music and has compiled a vast selection of repertoire spanning various genres and decades!
