Charanga is an ensemble that came out of Cuba, featuring the unique sound of the French flute and violins, guiro, congas, timbales, piano, bass, and vocals. Danzón evolved from European country dances, becoming Cuba’s own original dance music. From the Danzón, the Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, and Son was incorporated.
This ensemble plays a wide range of Afro-Cuban jazz styles like Mambo, Guajira, Guanguanco, Son-Montuno, and Cha Cha Cha. We also can accommodate a smaller group for your events whether it be indoors or outdoors.
This band has been playing for over 10 years throughout the Midwest. Band leader/founder has a radio show on Chicago's Home for Jazz 90.9fm on Sunday's from 4 until 6pm.

September 9, 2025We had the best experience with these musicians. 4 showed up with various instruments. Communication was excellent. They were able to set up on the aft deck of a rented yacht for a birthday party. What a wonderful vibe. My whole family was dancing. They are excellent.

June 8, 2023These guys sounded great, perfect band for Havana Night event. Only comment would be the breaks were extensive, don't feel we necessarily got our money's worth of entertainment, especially after performers added $250 for amps, etc. Wouldn't pay that amount again.
