About

After retiring from his career as an editorial policy analyst in 2011, Cedar Branches fully devoted himself to art. He published his first book in 2011, titled “Spirit Work”, a photographic travel journal about a spirit-guided adventure to Peru. About one year later, Cedar published his second book, “How to Create a New Earth”, a book of deep poetic philosophy. By the end of 2015, Cedar had self-published two volumes of inspiring and insightful poetry (“Spiritual Slut – Lamentations & Love Songs by Cedar Branches” and “Love of a Mystic”). In early 2017, Cedar released his most recent complete book, “Spirit Work, Too”, a collaborative sequel to his first published book. In October of 2017, Cedar began releasing spoken word recordings (with musical accompaniment) of his poetic works, and by December of 2017 had released two full-length spoken word albums ('Wander' and 'Heal'). In December, he released his first music album (EP), "Shadows Illuminated". By April of 2018, Cedar adapted and produced a stage musical in Seattle based on Shadows Illuminated. Since then Cedar has released several more musical works, including collaborations under the monikers of Cedar Mws and Q. Tune!. In May of 2019, he released So⎀lʘne, a solo album of top-notch electronic pop music.

Over several years Cedar has developed a devoted following across social media sites and in many local communities. His mastery of the English language has rapidly evolved, as well as his use of rhythm to engage his audience. He has made many of his works available in spoken word form (often paired with beautiful and colorful photographic nature imagery), and the resulting works are nothing short of astounding. His works are sure to leave readers and listeners in states of relaxation, inspiration, deep reflection, emotionally charged, or to whatever direction that he might choose to guide them.

Outside of his continual artistic efforts, Cedar Branches is a free spirit who travels the world to be engaged in selfless devotional service. Despite being a prolific writer who has organically generated a widespread following, Cedar has released all of his works for completely free via social media sites. The authenticity and generosity found in his poetic works are continually mirrored in his day-to-day life, which he also shares openly and is often considered a work of art of its own.

Cedar’s poetry might be described as musical, intensely deep, and extremely original.

Set list

I will customize a set list for your needs. I have plenty of great material to pull from my three full albums of poetry and musical poetry, depending on your specific needs.

Influences and inspiration

I am a big appreciator of art, especially poetry and music. Some of my favorite musicians that influence my work somewhat are Nick Cave, Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), Al Jourgensen (Ministry), Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Mike Patton (Faith No More), and many more. My sound is pretty original despite these subtle influences. I have my own great sound. :)
