The Cat's Pajamas are a unique combo: vocals, guitar, bass, with keyboard and percussion as the occasion requires. We're a classy act, but not pretentious. When you have fun, we have fun. What kind of music do we play? Think 40's nightclub meets modern groove. Our specialty—what sets us apart from most bands—are the great standard swing and Bossa Nova tunes of a golden age: Sinatra, Basie, Fitzgerald. You get the idea. But we keep going. Want easy listening? Got that. A little Country? Check. Blues, or a little Motown? Yeah, that's us. More? Name a tune and we can probably perform it.

We dress up when we perform so you get a classy act, but we're fun, not stuffy. Jazz, blues, pop/rock, and some country are in our standard repertory, but we have many songs we can add as needed (including classical, instrumentals, and more). At our most basic, we are a guitarist/vocalist and a bass player. If you wish to have a bigger group, we can add another vocalist, a drummer/percussionist, a keyboard, and more.
Jeff "Jazz Cat" Anvinson: Guitar, Keyboard, Vocals. Jeff is a professional musician with over 35 years of experience. He owns and operates a music services business, JLA Music, in Grand Forks, MN.
G. S. "Catnip" Jeffrey: Bass, Vocals. "Catnip" first played with Jeff in the early 80's, which accounts for the deep musical connection between the two. He transitioned from guitar to bass in the late 80's and played in big hair bands before he discovered jazz and funk.
Vocals/Drums/Percussion: The band brings in guest talent suited for the occasion.
A standard electric outlet is needed. We bring our own amplification (it's got absolutely great sound) if the audience numbers 300 or fewer. By the way, we play at a reasonable volume so audience members can have conversations without having to shout over the band.

Jazz, blues, pop/rock, and country are standard, but we can play almost anything. We can provide a detailed song list if you request it. Plus, if you have a favorite song that we don't know, we can usually learn it and perform it for your event.
A typical set list might be 75% jazz, 15% pop/rock, 7% blues, and 3% country, but it varies based on the requirements of the event. If it's a wedding, we can play classical and religious music. If it's a quiet upscale reception, jazz and classical. If needed we can play all instrumentals, no vocals. We have a killer female vocalist we can add who'll blow your socks off with blues, jazz, and pop music. A drummer can be included for a nice steady beat, with more "dance-able" music.
In a nutshell, we're eclectic, which means "adaptability" is our middle name.
We've been influenced by jazz, pop, rock, blues, country, classical, funk, Motown, bluegrass, Broadway musicals, religious music, folk, etc. We have eclectic tastes and have played many styles of music.
