Captain Cedar Chest

Arrr you ready kids? Let me come in with an invading your event style entrance as a surprise to guests or have me already there and greeting them as the enter. I will speak with an accent and address them as ‘mate’ or ‘poppet’ or ‘m’lord and m’lady’ if you prefer as I ask them if they’ve seen the sea witch about, or where the rum is, or if they’d like to know how a pirate arrives at a landlocked state for example. I will dance tribal style belly dance for 2-3 songs and then can provide basic belly dance move instructions in a small group of up to 20 guests. Then the newly taught dancers and I will dance for a song or two. I will mingle and talk with guests, telling jokes about a pirate’s favorite letter, how much I paid for these earrings, and posing for photos with an arrr expression or a broad smile. An hour and a half is a typical event booking duration as described.

Teresa, or Tree as she’s known to her friends, is a Phoenix, Arizona native with almost double master’s degrees, who enjoys pirate cosplay with The Salt River Skallywags as well as tribal fusion style belly dance. She’s combined belly dance and piracy for a unique fusion costume and entertainment that includes poi (ball) spinning. Tree first performed in 2008 with Troupe Shuvani at the Williams Renaissance Faire and she was recently booked for a 2024 private New Year’s Eve pirate themed party as Captain Cedar Chest, with a fun invasion and parrrty takeover story that had hundreds of guests having a great time! Tree is a world traveler, Gen Xer, and native English speaker with a clean background and perfect driving record.
