An acoustic ensemble from the Mid-Hudson Valley of NYS playing Balkan, Roma-Gypsy and Klezmer dance tunes! Performing on traditional instruments including accordion, violin, clarinets, and percussion, the band is equally at home in a bar, a celebration hall or at a farmer’s market — happy to play for dancers, revelers, holidays, weddings and other simchas. Caprice Rouge played at my son's bar mitzvah luncheon and did an amazing job. They judged the mood in the room perfectly at all times, and even managed to get the 13 year olds dancing to klezmer. We received so many compliments about the band from our guests, and they were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I could not recommend them more strongly.
After listening to Caprice Rouge online, I decided to book them for our party -- a 90th birthday celebration for my mom, who loves Klezmer. I wanted her to be able to get up and dance at her party. The Caprice Rouge musicians were very easy to work with and very responsive to my every need and request, both in responding quickly and in saying Yes We Can. They arrived super early to set up and were barely visible as they did so -- until they started playing and then they rocked the house. They had such an array of instruments, old and new and fascinating! From a three year old to the 93 year old, everyone took a turn on the dance floor including and especially my mom. The members of the band were lovely and warm and contributed to making the party a success. Thank you, Caprice Rouge!
We were so lucky to have Caprice Rouge furnish the music for our staged reading of The Road to Minsk at the Rokeby Estate--their marvelous, lively music really set the tone for the evening and added hugely to the audience's enjoyment of the event. We love Caprice Rouge!
Response from Caprice Rouge:
We've loved performing for Cait's theater pieces over the last 5 or 6 years. And we hope to continue. So much fun!

Caprice Rouge is an acoustic, old-world folk ensemble. We explore the winding scales and exotic melodies of music, essentially, although not limited to the areas of Eastern Europe from Russian south into Greece, among them Bulgaria, Moldova, Hungry, Macedonia, Albania and Turkey. Drawing on styles from Romany musicians, Klezmers, and other folk music traditions, Caprice Rouge brings their own interpretations to these age-old tunes.
We can be small and quiet or BIG and LOUD! Caprice Rouge is a trio at the core, although frequently appearing as a quintet. We’ve played gallery openings and weddings, synagogue events and private parties, big halls and small spaces, indoors and out! The band is agile and flexible adding instrumentation as appropriate.
Fiddle, accordion, clarinet, Irish bazouki, assorted percussion (dumbek, tupan, washboard)
