I like to think of my performances as "intimate" - I love to envelope myself in the music and have the audience members feel the emotions of the song, same as I feel when I sing them. I self-accompany myself with acoustic (sometimes electric) guitar, as well as backing tracks with self-programmed percussion and background vocals done by myself! I perform all originals, but will occasionally throw a cover or two in, just to give the audience a crowd pleaser!

Born and raised on the west side of Chicago, my name is Jalen Morris Eskridge and I am a budding independent R&B artist! Growing up, I was always in and out of the hospital for medical complications, surgeries, procedures, it prohibited me in living a quote unquote, "normal" childhood. Being inside for most of the time, my escape was the arts, whether it was drawing, watching cartoons, playing video games, or, most importantly, listening to music with my father. Once in high school, I focused my passion was singing, as growing up in the church and the constant listening to all types of music had developed into an affinity for it. Once I joined choir, it was a safe to say that music was my calling, with a encouraging and nurturing choir teacher furthering that.

After high school, I attended Millkin University as a Commerical Music B.M. major, where I focused my main studies towards Vocal Jazz, Studio Recording/Engineering, and Songwriting. It was midway through my college career when the pandemic hit in 2020 that all that went crashing to a halt. With little motivation and nothing to do as the uncertainty of the world loomed over, I chose to begin to release music under the moniker of "Jimmee Music" for the next two and a half years, I released two albums, five EPs, and four separate singles, being featured on local Chicago radio station, Vocalo Radio, in their rotation, as well as two feature interviews.

In the beginning of 2023, I rebranded as "callmejimmee", releasing my first single under that name in January. After finishing my time at Millkin, I came out a trained vocal professional, and accredited studio engineer and dancer; being a past member of Millkin's premier choir ensemble University Choir, their premier vocal jazz ensemble OneVoice, their competing a cappella group Dissonance, and a member of their Hip-Hop dance group Physical Graffiti.

I primarily perform R&B, Jazz, Soul, and Pop music, but I am comfortable and classically trained in any genre!

I don't need much! I bring my own microphones and gear, I have a purely acoustic guitar, and a clip-on microphone for said guitar, and my Macbook Pro to play my backing tracks! All I would need is a sound system that would be able to connect an aux cable to the laptop, multiple XLR input for the microphones, and that's all. If you have lighting, whatever you think would fit the vibe of the performance is fine by me!
