What to expect

It is very dependent on the services you request. If you require bassoon background music, I would bring all of my own equipment (stand, music, self, bassoon), I am able to stand or sit. I also can play acoustically or amplified if needed.
Regarding music, I am happy to work with you to find the best fit for your event. I can play anything from more lyrical standard music, wedding melodies, or more contemporary bassoon music if you desire.

About

James Scott (He/they/Any pronouns) was the graduate teaching assistant for the Colorado State University bassoon studio from (phone number hidden)4, with duties including teaching lessons, the bassoon fundamentals class, coaching chamber music, and aiding the undergraduate bassoonists with their reed work.
As a bassoonist, they advocate for more inclusion of chamber music and new music. One of his biggest goals as a performer is to help bring to the forefront the music of traditionally underrepresented groups and give their talents the recognition they deserve. Especially those who are non-binary or neurodivergent, as they can best speak to those experiences.
James relocated to Northern Colorado in 2022 with his spouse, Telly, and his cat Vanessa. While fairly new to the Northern Colorado area James can commonly be found performing across the area.
They hold a Master's degree in performance at Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Their primary instructors include Ann Kosanavic-Brown, Dr. Remy Taghavi, and Dr. Cayla Bellamy.
