Barefoot Nellie & Co. is a smooth driving 4 piece Bluegrass band based out of the Chattanooga, TN area. The group was founded in 2007 by husband and wife, Eric (bass) and August (fiddle) Bruce. Joining them are Arron Ramey on guitar, and Seth Hutcheson on banjo. BFN&CO compiles smooth, driving, darker arrangements that blend traditional bluegrass with a more innovative approach. The band's heart lies in writing, arranging and playing original songs.

June 8, 2025A friend of my hosted a bourbon tasting party and brought these fine folks in to lay down some bluegrass.
The banjo player laid down some great riffs and added his voice on at least one of the songs, his fingers moving like greased lightning but making it look effortless; Arron (knew his name cause it was on his strap) guitar player and singer played some very good smooth clean rhythm intermixed with some nice riffs that took him up and down the fretboard, his voice carried the deep richness with a bit of twang expected in bluegrass; the lady on the fiddle did an excellent job, she was especially good at keeping tempo by pizzicato, or plucking the strings, but I’d be remised if I didn’t state the pureness of her voice, silky and smooth; and last but not least, the man on the stand-up bass, the glue that holds everything together, his bass lines were perfect and led the charge on many songs.
In summary BFN is an excellent bluegrass band that warrants seeking them out to hear them play.
