Overview

Allow me to play flute in any genre of music, with an excellent ability to improv on the spot. From Classic easy listening, jazz, R&B, socca, Indian and Reggae. I am NOTES, a solo musician who has played with several bands throughout the United States. Periodically as a solo musician I will partner with a violinist or a vocalist. Saxophone, piano, acoustic and electric guitar are additional instruments in my music bank. As a musician I've played local club venues, festivals, fundraisers, indoor and outdoor events, as well as Weddings, Anniversaries and Private Parties. I look forward to making your special event an enjoyable one!!!

What to expect

Expect to be entertained. I enjoy having a great time.
Not only will you be entertained, with alluring sounds of the Flute , I enjoy positive lyrics, vocals , smooth  guitar and maybe ever so often great choreography. Its even more the belief of delivering a solution in song and sharing the truth in life he has experienced, but I enjoy playing so others can connect to joy.

About

Anwar “NOTES” Overton, Brooklyn native received the District 18 Black History Young Poet Award in 5th grade for his poem about peace. That’s where it all began. The following year in addition to his ability to write he began studying music composition. “NOTES” was not familiar with the names of various instruments, but he fell in love with the sounds of Jethro Hull, Herbie Mann and Greg Patillo, whom he had the pleasure of meeting. Greg Patillo took a personal interest in “NOTES” and shared with him, that it was possible to Bee Bop on the flute and deliver a smooth, peaceful sound at the same time! By the time, he reached Intermediate School, he was a member of Meyer Levin’s School Concert Band. Playing the flute during Middle School and High School was therapy for “NOTES”. It was his was to escape the rough streets of Brooklyn, yet create a positive synergy with fellow students his age and older.
Anwar “NOTES” Overton graduated from USF (University of South Florida) where he played in the Marching Band. As a professional artist he has had the pleasure of gracing the stage with various musicians and bands, playing weddings, indoor, outdoor festivals, recording as well as clubs and lounges about town.
