Amy Manette gave an upscale performance at the Waseca Art Center auditorium on June 2nd. The crowd thoroughly the variety of music ranging from easy listening favorites to sassy jazz hits and the presentation was outstanding.
The music was perfect during the cocktail hour and silent auction bidding of our fundraising event. Amy Manette played jazz music to go along with our 1920's theme. Marv was great work with and very responsive. I would highly recommend for any event, large and small!
What to Expect
The Amy Manette (Ma-Nay) jazz band is professional, talented, and easy to work with. Our main priority is to provide the perfect music for your event with zero stress or worry. We bring everything for a performance. All that we need to know is where to set up and where to plug in for power. A standard plug-in is required for electricity. We are very adaptable in the size and type of area we set up in as long as we have approximately 150 square feet, which would be roughly a 12-foot by 12-foot area, give or take each direction.
Our playlist consists of swing, jazz, blues, big band, pop and some 50's rock & roll. Amy is constantly adding new music selections to the playlist to keep our act fresh and entertaining.
The Amy Manette band are well-dressed professionals offering a great presentation. Our wardrobe varies from semi-casual to full formal, depending on the occasion.
Singer Amy Manette and trumpet player Dustin Voges take their places in the front of the band and stand during the performance. Pianist Ed Thorpe and drummer Marvin Topp are seated behind their instruments at the back of the band.
Amy Manette jazz band is not a Dance Band, although much of our music is very suitable for dancing. A true Dance Band is a high energy act, playing a wide variety of cover songs at a louder volume, similar to hiring a DJ. The Amy Manette Band has a more moderate approach to our performance, adapting our volume to our customers' needs. Our sound, talent, and tasteful playing are second to none. We pride ourselves on our reputation of satisfied customers.
Amy, Ed, Dustin and Marv are all personable individuals who look forward to meeting you and making your event a memorable one.
Amy Manette (Ma-nay) Kuch. Amy is a singer, actress and model. Amy has an amazing dynamic range unmatched by most singers. She has a powerful, soulful voice but can also sing with great tenderness. Amy's primary love is for the theater. Her acting experiences have helped to develop her powerful singing voice.
Amy performs in the MN Fringe Festival, MN Shorts Play Festival, Merely Murder Mysteries and does commercial modeling in Minneapolis.
Ed (Doc) Thorpe hails from St. Paul and has been playing jazz and pop organ and piano for over 50 years. Doc wrote and recorded his first tunes when he was 17. His songs made Billboard. Doc was awarded a scholarship to Berkley School Of Music in Boston. Doc has backed up every act from Greek Belly Dancers to Al Jarreau, Sherwin Linton, Buddy Holly, The Platters, Sonny Bryant, LeRoy Van Dyke and many more.
A native of Minnesota, Trumpet Player Dustin Voges is an active jazz performer, concert soloist, and plays in a few different small groups throughout the Minnesota area. Dustin studied concert performance trumpet in school and has traveled throughout the United States playing with large and small college ensembles, and toured with a professional piano artist through the Midwest and the East Coast. Dustin makes extensive use of the Harmon trumpet mute in his tasteful style, which works very well with small combos in club settings.
Marvin Topp is Amy's percussionist and also sings. Marv handles scheduling and other management duties of the band. Marv also works with pianist Ed (Doc)Thorpe doing duo Jazz work. Marv has worked with the Mary Guentzel Jazz Quintet, Cedar Paddle Folk Band, Echos Big Band, Sonny Bryant, The Jim Lawrence Orchestra, The Platters, The Moon Lighters Dance Band, The Schell's Hobo Band and sat in with others.
Additional Booking Notes
Amy Manette provides their own sound system unless the venue has their own system they want the band to use. Amy Manette has no light show. We provide great musical entertainment without a lot of flash. Standard household power is all that is required.
