What to expect

The term performance varies depending on the location, occasion, and event. As a performing artist, my priority is to help my audience participate in the joy that I experience while I perform. To me, flexibility and spontaneity are the fuel of a successful performance. And this makes each collaboration unique, be it with fellow artists or programmers and planners. My goal is to generously offer my music and create beautiful moments.

About

Amir Nasseri was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. His passion for music and violin started in my early teenage years. At the age of 19, he started his Bachelor's in Music program at the University of Tehran.

After graduation, Amir was already involved in many different fields including being a member of a baroque ensemble "Tehran Baroque Music Atelier', a member of Parsian Chamber Orchestra, having his piano and violin duo, receiving commissions for movie soundtracks, and performing at festivals and competitions. In 2015 he won first prize at Javaan National Music Festival's competition in Tehran.

in 2021 Amir started his Master's in violin performance at the University of Maryland where he had the position of ensemble assistantship. This position provided him with broader symphonic and chamber music experience where he performed monthly with his quartet as well as the UMD Symphony Orchestra and Maryland Opera Studio where he won the concertmaster chair twice.

During his studies at UMD, he also collaborated with different orchestras including Avanti Orchestra and Annapolis Symphony, as well as chamber ensembles such as Balance Campaign and Yasnaa Ensemble.
In the time of his stay in Maryland, Amir took advantage of the Washington DC area's vibrant artistic community and was involved in multiple projects including playing at concert series such as Lunch under the Pipes in Baltimore and participating in the premiers of new works including the opera Brunch with the Boys. He also participated in summer festivals such as the Main Chamber Music Seminar and The Clarinet Academy of America where he performed during the faculty concert.

Besides his performance career, Amir is also a passionate teacher and he has taught in several private music schools.

Amir has recently moved to San Diego, California to pursue a DMA in Contemporary Performance program at the University of California San Diego, where he has won a full TA assistantship award.

Additional booking notes

My performances basically need very minimal equipment, mostly only a chair. I am equipped with my basic accessories including my iPad, pedal, and stand.

Set list

I will bring out the pieces that work best for the event and go through them with the hosts/planners. The setlists I use range from classical pieces to pop arrangements.

Influences and inspiration

My musical journey has been a long and diverse one. Starting from traditional Persian music to classical music and historical performance and later on my enthusiasm for contemporary music and electronic music have all had a huge influence on my musical identity. The music I make and the way I play is undoubtedly inspired by all of my past experiences.
