Dorthea played beautiful wedding music for our daughter's wedding. She was great at communicating all the way up to the day of the wedding. She even played some special songs we requested. We will definitely have her play again for any upcoming events.

About
Dorothea’s musical journey began in Amsterdam, where she first took up the violin as a child. After her family relocated to the United States, she continued her studies with distinguished teachers in Kansas and California, eventually earning her music degree from Stanford University. Her orchestral work spans a rich range of ensembles, including the Pasadena Community Symphony, Santa Rosa Baroque Sinfonia, Solano Symphony, Vallejo Symphony, Vallejo Choral Society, and the American Recorder Orchestra of the West. For more than twenty years, she has brought her expressive playing to weddings and special events throughout California.
Performing frequently with her husband, Bert, Dorothea has recorded six albums featuring her own arrangements of traditional English, Irish, and Scottish melodies. She is also a skilled recorder player, bringing authenticity and warmth to Renaissance, Medieval, and Celtic repertoire.
Dorothea is an inspired choice for creative, themed events. As a multi‑talented performer in music and dance, Dorothea can creatively incorporate glamorous, elegant dance skirts and dresses into her music performance, making her an ideal fit for luxury events where an extra touch of visual impact is desired.

We couldn't be happier with Dorothy. Extremely talented, punctual and went out of her way to make us happy. Quick reply to any emails and she located sheet music to an uncommon wedding song. When there was a mix up in the timing of the bridal party starting, Dorothy noticed this and continued /replayed the song without a pause. Additional booking notes
Dorothea brings her own equipment: two violins (she always bring a second instrument for backup) and amplification if desired. A high quality portable amp that can operate on battery power if necessary is provided at no extra charge where amplification is allowed, providing a welcome addition to outdoor events where sound might otherwise be lost. My larger tower amp requires an electric outlet. A violin is a delicate and precious instrument and needs protection from wind, rain, fog, or extreme temperatures.
