Allie Jessing
Overview
I'm a classically trained singer, actor, dancer, writer, and producer with a Master’s in Vocal Performance from Mannes, The New School. A genre pioneer, my work is a blur of high and low brow, a fusion of opera, cabaret, burlesque, aerial performance, fantasy, and mythology. My singing spans genres from classical to revivalist ancient folk music, including pop, rock, jazz, and musical theater. As a vocal coach, I focus on cutting-edge, brain-based, neuro-science backed techniques, as well as whole-self transformation. I specialize in versatility and the ability to sing and perform various genres, as well as encouraging self-production and creative autonomy.

What to expect
Cabaret: Depending on the style of cabaret we agree on, you're likely to see myself and a pianist performing a variety of different musical numbers with amusing patter (spoken entertainment) in-between. You may choose a theme or leave it up to me. I will be dressed appropriately for the event.
Broadway-style entertainment: Similar to Cabaret but with less talking between and only selections from Broadway or in the style of Broadway.
Folk, lyre, Celtic, Irish, Scottish, etc: We can discuss the style of songs you would like me to present, I will dress appropriately for the event and be seated with my lyre to sing and play.
About
I'm a classically trained singer with a Master's in Vocal Performance from Mannes The New School of Music in NYC.
I grew up performing leads in community musical theater, sang with a jazz combo band in junior college, and sang leads in operas at University while earning my Philosophy degree.
At Mannes, I won the Alsop Entrepreneurship Award and created my first solo cabaret project that fused burlesque and classical music. The following year I produced Femmes Fatales, a larger scale cabaret production you can find on my Youtube channel.
I'm currently working on my historical fantasy time-travel cabaret television series, Hetaira. I'm bringing a live version to Edinburgh Fringe in August 2019 and the radio-drama version for podcast is in production, with the first episode available on my website as a trailer.
My dream is to found my own production company Vǫlva Productions, which will specialize in feminist and socially conscious sci-fi and fantasy content for film and stage.
Please feel free to peruse my website (link hidden), view my youtube channel, and reach out to me for more information about my work.
Additional booking notes
I can perform in nearly any space as long as I know what to expect beforehand. I do not always need a microphone, but if the space is very large or loud, I will bring a microphone and amp for myself (and my lyre if needed). If a pianist is required I will need either a piano or to bring my keyboard.
