Judging UVU's Valley Voice competition

Overview

Born with cerebral palsy, Alex had limited use of his right arm, hand and leg. After years of training, therapy, and personal exercise Alex has gained functional use of his body but still deals with limits to fine motor skills.

Overcoming many of the effects of cerebral palsy required Alex to move beyond the perceived limitations that CP presents and in doing so, he has developed a strong gift for optimism and problem solving. At a young age, Alex has found success in business development, real estate, and life coaching. He is an opportunist and professional problem solver, dedicating his life to helping others turn obstacles into stepping stones and barriers into solutions.

Morse Elementary

Alex was terrific! It's not easy to keep a gym full of elementary students engaged, but the students loved his creativity, incredible music talent, and hilarious sense of humor. He gave an emotional, passionate, and inspirational message that was enjoyed by the students and the adults. At one point I found myself on the verge of tears, and have shared his message with my family and friends. Highly recommended!

Elementary School Growth Mindset Assembly- Alex Ames

Alex did a great job- his beat boxing and piano skills really kept the students attention along with his powerful message. He was early, took pictures, and stayed to talk with students.

What a humbling review! The energy and positivity displayed by the staff and students at this assembly was incredible. The kids were very interactive, the staff was kind and friendly. For those looking to create an environment of growth and optimism in their organizations, Tara and her team are doing it right.

What to expect

While generally focused on self-mastery, Alex's presentation can be customized to help convey the desired message. Alex discusses the importance of looking for solutions and finding the opportunity to excel in every situation. Alex firmly believes in crowd interaction and participation, so anyone that books him can expect their crowd to be actively engaged.
In addition to empowerment, Alex believes that people also naturally crave entertainment and his presentation caters to that. Upon request, he gives an example of overcoming difficulty by playing the piano while crossing his hands to demonstrate that anything can be done with the right mindset.

About

Born with cerebral palsy, doctors said Alex would never walk or talk. Now 28, Alex has accomplished everything that others tried to tell him was impossible.
Born in Kansas City, he went through therapy for much of his young life in order to improve his physical handicaps. It was through personal decisions that he chose the path his life would take, despite the hand he was dealt. By the time he graduated high school, he had been quarterback on the football team, won second place in a national group singing competition, and sung in front of 30,000 people, becoming a sensation in his hometown. With nothing slowing him down, he moved on to even more large-scale goals.
He started a career with Vivint, a door-to-door alarm company. As the summer progressed, his cerebral palsy took a toll on his performance. But despite the fact that tendonitis affected every step he took, he finished his time there above the average rookie, gaining the attention of the company's executives. A feature video was created about Alex and his enthusiastic perspective on life that is hard to ignore.
Alex claims his marriage of four years as his greatest accomplishment. He is known for his optimism that is present in every interaction. He refuses to take no for an answer and his tenacity carries him through his challenging circumstances and the people who demand he give up or conform to a more traditional path. He consistently inspires others with the way he lives his life and sees nothing but opportunity.
At the ripe old age of 28, Alex is a successful business owner, real estate investor, and consultant, and enjoys uplifting others with his philosophies and methods for true success.
