Aimee Bobruk is a vocalist and guitar player peforming original and cover music in the folk, rock, americana, jazz and blues music genres. The performance is intimate, energized, and entertaining.
Born on the humble outskirts of Huntsville, Texas, at the end of a dusty caliche road named after her grandfather, Bobruk’s journey into the world of music feels like something straight out of an Americana legend.
After 15 transformative years in Austin—a city that’s a natural breeding ground for songwriters—she refined her craft and her sound. Bobruk describes songwriting as her way of “making sense of the world and my place in it,” and crafts songs that are at once hauntingly beautiful and deeply rooted in the world around her. With lyrics that paint cinematic landscapes, her blend of indie folk, pop, and singer-songwriter sensibilities feels like a breath of fresh air, yet somehow familiar—like a quiet conversation with an old friend.
Bobruk is currently releasing tracks from her upcoming album Malybanchia, which takes listeners on a soulful journey inspired by her time on the Mississippi River and her residency at the childhood home of literary icon Carson McCullers.
In October of 2024, she was selected as the artist-in-residence at Shenandoah National Park, where she hiked the Appalachian trails and used nature for inspiration. Her music has always been a reflection of life’s raw, messy, and incredibly human moments, and this new chapter promises to push those themes even further.
A seasoned veteran in the art of songwriting, Bobruk has released three studio albums and written over 25 songs for international artists. Performer Songwriter Magazine has praised her music as “nothing short of a work of art.” And in 2018, she took on an entirely new challenge, producing and scoring the documentary Borderlanders, riding the Texas/Mexico border on a motorcycle while meeting locals and capturing a view of life at the edge. It’s no surprise that music has taken Bobruk to over a dozen countries, around the United States, and deep into the hearts of those she meets along the way.
Bobruk is a Marguerite and Lamar Fellow (2018) as well as a BMI Woody Guthrie Fellow (2019). She has received creative grants from The City of Austin and KODA music (Denmark).
