What to expect

2112 hails from Lakewood Washington and specializes in the faithful recreation of the music of the legendary Canadian progressive rock band Rush. 2112 does this not only by accurate performance of the music, but also by a careful recreation of the Rush tone palate: ranging from accurate use of synthesizers, guitar tones, drum tones, bass tones and vocal patterns.

2112 has come to be known as the premiere Rush tribute band in the Pacific Northwest and has performed at many of the local festivals and has played many premiere area stages and venues.

2112 has garnered the respect of many Rush fans whom recognize 2112’s commitment to bringing a true and accurate recreation of the Rush concert listening experience to their live performances.

When possible 2112 uses rear projection video, fog machines, laser shows, sequencing, and more to capture the production value expected by fans at Rush concerts. 2112 is also ranging deeper into the Rush musical catalog, performing a set sure to delight even the most ardent of fans.

To perform the music of RUSH properly, one must rely on technology and as such 2112 is a technology driven band This requires ample set-up time and adequate sound checking. It's not unusual for the band to integrate computers and network based systems on stage and these cannot be set up 5 minutes. Promoters and stage managers should expect the band to bring more stage gear than most bands and that it takes the band longer to set up these systems. Ideally the band is granted access to the stage well in advance of showtime and has access to systems and personnel in order to complete soundcheck away from the audience.

David Jaedyn Conley (Guitar, Vocals, Keyboards)

David Jaedyn Conley is a resident of both Australia and the United States and is currently completing his PhD in Music at the University of Melbourne Australia. Primarily a film composer, David spends most of his time in the studio when away from the band. David also earned his Masters Degree in music from the University of Melbourne, and his Bachelors Degree in music at Seattle’s Cornish College of the Arts. Out of high school Robin was accepted into the “Fighting 724th” Air Force band where he played bass in the air force country music band. Robin is a multiyear veteran of the South Puget Sound music scene and has played with too many bands to list, It seems everyone in the Olympia music scene knows him. Robin currently plays with two other bands “Good Enuff” and “Slugbait”.
Robin has been a Rush fan all his life, and says “Playing in 2112 brings me full circle to the music that greatly influenced me as a young player..”.

Gary Guzman, (Drums and Percussion)

Gary Guzman is probably one of Pierce County’s most sought after drummers. Gary judges Guitar Center’s annual “Drum Off” and plays with various ensembles and groups around the Tacoma/Seattle area. Known for his ability to play complex time signatures and his technical ability as both a drummer and percussionist, Gary has played for everything including the Tacoma Youth Symphony, as well as the Nick Tesla band, a Tacoma mainstay for more than 20 years. Gary is certainly a world-class drummer and brings a level of distinction to “2112” that only Neil Peart himself could hope to provide.

Additional booking notes

2112 utilizes a great deal of advanced technology in order to recreate the RUSH sound with authenticity and command. In order to achieve this authenticity, 2112 frequently uses the exact same gear that RUSH does.

2112 draws a lot from the stereo field and as such prefers to preserve the stereo nature of the keyboards, as well as utilizing the stereo effects on guitar including chorus effects, delay effects, panned reverb etc etc. Ideally the guitar is miked in Stereo with paired microphones.

Events providing a backline should expect the drummer to augment the drum setup with additions such as root-toms, glockenspiel, temple blocks, chimes, electronic drums, and more.
