It has been honored with the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America's Best Arrangement, Best Soloist, Best Song and Best Album awards, included in Best of Collegiate a Cappella, and critically acclaimed from the Collegiate a Cappella Recordings Review to the New York Daily News.
About
Redhot & Blue has won national recognition for its innovative arrangements of jazz standards, which blend vintage jazz with the fresh and upbeat flair of the collegiate a cappella tradition. The group's seventeen members have brought their classic, award-winning sound to venues all over the world.
Back in 1977, just a few years after Yale opened its doors to women, founders Shelly Lotter and Leslie Lipton broke through the gender divide, bringing together some of the best male and female voices Yales campus had to offer. The result? Redhot & Blue, Yale's first co-educational a cappella group, named for a song by one of Yales most celebrated alums - Cole Porter. Though our repertoire has expanded and changed dramatically since those early days, we've performed everywhere from the streets of Paris to the halls of the White House, and released thirteen studio albums, we remain true to our distinct heritage of musical excellence.
Each year, the members of Redhot & Blue set off on a series of exciting tours, taking the group around the country and the globe. As any of us will tell you, nothing compares to the thrill of seeing the world and sharing our music with its many audiences. This year the group will have traveled to four different international countries (Italy, Greece, Jamaica, Grand Cayman) and several other domestic tours (Florida, New Jersey, Maryland, New York, and Connecticut). The group frequently travels to locations outside of New Haven to perform.
