About

Debbie Orta has performed in the quietest Salon party (in a private home) to the ballroom at The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach; from a tiny wine bar to huge concert settings such as SunFest in West Palm Beach. The Ortas play festivals and conventions in Miami Beach, Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach. Event Planners can expect a very quick response to their calls and emails, alert attention to their clients' needs and the very best musical performance from this seasoned group of professionals who play with lots of heart, soul and humor. We always smile and have a great time performing.

Singer/Songwriter Debbie Orta began her career here in our area as a teen, in rock and funk bands as well as salsa bands, singing, dancing, and playing the flute. Her music led her to befriend some of the best musicians in town and they encouraged her to focus on jazz and the Great American Songbook. With enthusiastic response for her demo jazz CD, “Obsession”, Debbie began a new chapter in her varied career. Over the last few years Debbie has emerged as a fixture on the South Florida jazz scene, becoming a Founder of the Miami Jazz Coop, being interviewed by jazz radio personalities Frank Rivera of WDNA, Stu Grant of Jazz Radio 880 am the Biz, and The Real Tracy Fields of WLRN, and performing at the Van Dyke Caf, Blue Jean Blues, The Arts Garage, SunTrust Sunday Jazz Brunch, the Sunfest Jazz Stage, Nova Southeastern University, the Naples Jazz Orchestra, and many cultural events all over Florida. She has performed with Mike Orta, Othello Molineaux, Turk Mauro, Jamie Ousley and other jazz luminaries. In April 2012, she was the featured artist for “Jazz at Pinecrest” with her outstanding jazz quintet. Reviews of her performance describe her as “captivating”, “enchanting”, and “enthralling”. Debbie delivers her interpretation of poignant ballads and hard-swinging standards from the greatest songbook of all time; plus she will segue into a dance set from the 70's up to today. You can have confidence in the success of your event with this terrific band.

Influences

Influenced, for example, by Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Tom Jobim, Norah Jones, Michael Bubl. The group is versatile enough to perform for the various stages of your private party, from the cocktail hour to the dance floor. Aside from the jazz era, we play dance music from the 70s up to today.

What to Expect

Typical Gig Duration: 50 - 240 minutes

Here are some examples of what we do. Recently a smaller version of the Orta Band performed quiet jazz to wonderful reviews for a high-society cocktail party in Palm Beach, Florida. We performed easy swing and peppered the setlist with some laid-back R&B favorites as well. In another show, Debbie Orta performed a tribute to Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald for 500 people, including some high-energy scatting "a la Ella". An office party for a bank was held in the actual huge bank lobby and featured Debbie Orta on jazz standards plus some pop tunes with dancing later on in the night. We have also played on a rooftop landing at Bal Harbor Shops for a high-fashion party, featuring jazz, Latin, bossa novas and some R&B. The Orta Band has performed outdoors by pools, in parks, in shopping center grand openings; in wedding rehearsals, receptions and Chamber of Commerce events. Expect only the absolute best every time.

Stage/Setup Requirements:
Electrical outlets and minimum floor or stage space for the number of musicians desired.
Parking for bandmembers.
Shelter or tent for outdoor performances, and water or other beverage provided.

Additional Notes:
Our professional PA system may be included for all events. A stage plot can be provided if necessary.
