During my motivational speeches to young people, I go beyond the platitudes and provide concrete pointers on how to prepare for and succeed in life. This means I don't simply spout bland slogans like "Believe in yourself!" or yell, "You can achieve anything if you set your mind to it!" Instead, I provide practical approaches and strategies to equip our young people to handle the challenges, decisions, and stresses they will encounter in life.

I especially enjoy speaking to young people because, while they may not readily admit it, they are hungry to receive instruction on how to succeed in their relationships, their school/work, and in life. Piercing through cynicism and apathy is a challenge; however, I use humor to try to break through the defensiveness and challenge their perceptions and attitudes.

To break the ice with the audience, I perform stand-up comedy. Below are sample bits from my comedy.

FORGIVENESS IS AN ON-GOING process. Thought I completely forgave my Dad for unfriending me on Facebook. Just found out that he’s friends with Kim Kardashian, Jared from Subway, and the Geico lizard. So I’m taking it one day at a time.

PERHAPS MY GOLF UMBRELLA’S a bit too large, When I popped it open, I managed to simultaneously poke 3 people in their eyes. Sorry!

MY FRIEND HAS OSTEOGENESIS IMPERFECTA, aka ‘brittle bone disease’. Simple bumps for most people can have devastating consequences for him. Whenever we do the fist bump with exploding fist, his fist actually explodes.

I’D LIKE TO MEET THE GUY who invented Uno for Kids and play just one game with him. After 3 hours, I’ll lean over, punch him in the head and yell, ‘That’s for creating a game that NEVER ENDS!!!’

LA TRAFFIC STINKS. Spent 90 minutes in traffic and travelled only 6 miles. During that time, my mood went from annoyed to irritated to angry to angry birds. At that point I began hurling huge red birds in hopes of destroying the massive gridlock that lay ahead of me. To no avail.

What to Expect

For motivational speaking appearances at schools, I would like to receive background information about the school and student body. If there are any particular issues the group is working through, I'd like to know. In this way, I try to discuss topics that will reinforce, expand, or complement the lessons that are being taught. Of course, this will require more preparation on my part as well as the event planner, but the results will be more specific and targeted, and ultimately, more beneficial for the students attending.
