About
Tara Lynn Ramsey is a freelance violinist and violin instructor based in Cleveland, OH. She holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music (M.M.) and Northwestern University (B.M. summa cum laude) and graduated high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy. As an orchestral musician, she was concertmaster for two years of the Northwestern University Chamber Orchestra, later holding the same position with Northwestern's Symphony Orchestra and at the Cleveland Institute of Music; she has appeared on stage with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, the Turtle Island String Quartet, and new music ensemble Dal Niente. In 2008, she was a soloist with the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Bohislav Martinu's Concerto for String Quartet with Orchestra. She has performed in Chicago's Millennium Park Jay Pritzker Pavilion, the Cleveland Orchestra's Severance Hall, and Lincoln Center, and has presented solo recitals at venues throughout the Midwest. She is a member of new music ensemble Ars Futura and of clarinet-violin-piano trio No Turn On Red, with whom she won second place at the 2013 Darius Milhaud Performance Prize Competition. A member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, she maintains a studio at Skyline Music in Westlake, OH, and teaches privately throughout the Cleveland area.
