ABOUT THE ARTIST & THE FOUNDER
My name is Michael Nadtochi and I am the founder and director of Zum Entertainment & Argentine Tango Academy of New York. Being a professional dancer for 26 years my experience consists of performing, competing, choreographing and educating dancers and professionals all over the world.
I started dancing at the age of ten in Moscow, Russia, and ever since dance was the main focus of my life. By the age of eighteen as a successful performer/competitor in a global ballroom dance scene, I had won the title of Russian Youth Champion in 1994 and represented his country in a World Championship held in Slovenia.
I have travelled all over Europe (France, Germany, England, Denmark, Norway and other countries) and earned international recognition as a International Latin Dance competitor and with my moving to U.S. achieved even more success (awarded “Top U.S. National Dance Couple of the Year” in 2000). Internationally recognized dancer, I regularly appeared in music and dance festivals in US and abroad, corporate entertainment events and major concert halls and theaters, in addition to making numerous television, film and TV commercials appearances as a principal dancer.
After my ballroom career I focused on authentic Latin and South American rhythms. I studied Salsa with legendary Eddie Torres and Argentine Tango with the star of “Forever Tango” Broadway Show and Tony Award Winner Carlos Gavito, and at the same time I appeared in stage performances and National TV shows and commercials (Verizon TV commercial, American Express industrial film, “The Guiding Light” TV series, “Latin Fusion” off-Broadway show, “Fania All Stars” concert).
For the last 12 years I dedicated myself to studying, performing and teaching the art of authentic Argentine Tango.
PRINCIPAL PERFORMERS
Together with top professional dancer Zoya Altmark we have formed a partnership with the goal in mind to teach and perform our way of dancing Argentine Tango around the globe. Using our creativity and extensive experience gathered through other forms of dance training (Ballet, Modern, Tango, Ballroom, Salsa, Folklore) we are expanding the boundaries of the traditional Tango dance. We have received invitations to visit Italy, Russia and Israil touring in 2013 with our unique show program.
