Johanna Hongell-Darsee, born in Finland, has a background in theater and dance. She received her education at the Lecoq School of Theater and Mime in Paris and studied classical Indian dance with Gurus Savithri Jagannatha Rao, Kalanidhi Narayan and Kama Dev. She led a theater and dance company in Sweden before moving to New Mexico, USA in 2001. Since 1986 she has created performances of dance, drama, storytelling and song. She has also worked on and explored the world of Medieval Ballads since 1995.
Scott Darsee, born in Iowa, USA, is a poet, musician, songwriter and painter who spent 15 years in Europe. Parallel to his artistic work, he also worked as a therapist for Ballet companies such as Dance Theatre of Harlem, English National Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet and Hamburg Ballet. He also taught at Danmark’s State School of Modern Dance and worked with Theater Bava.
After relocating to New Mexico from Scandinavia in 2001, Scott and Johanna have given over 350 performances around the U.S., at festivals, theatres, arts councils, colleges, schools, libraries, and radio stations including:

What to Expect
Typical Gig Duration: 20 - 120 minutes
A performance of traditional and medieval ballads in melodic and dremy arrangements, accompanied by stories behind the ballads as they have traveled over continents and through centuries.
We can bring our own sound system or use available PA.
