Dear Sean:
I would like to thank you very much for an outstanding performance at my daughter’s Wedding at Kentuck Knob.
The music was beautiful, the playing masterful, the ambiance spiritual.
The newlyweds and both families appreciate your art, musicality, competence, and passion.

Sean was the bagpiper at our ceremony. He did a great job. Some people that knew we were having a bagpiper perform were skeptical, but everyone gave me so many compliments in the end. They all loved him.

Sean was timely in responses to me and was more than willing to work with any special requests we had. My fiance wanted to walk out to the Star Wars Theme, and Sean played it perfectly! It was a great treat for everyone.

He added something very special to our ceremony!

Overview

About

My journey with the bagpipes began when I was 7 and my uncle was a drummer in a bagpipe band. I recently had seen his band in a parade, and I spent the next weeks marching around the house pretending to play the bagpipes. Soon after that, I began actually learning to play from the late John Duxbury, going on to study under Jimmy MacIntosh, MBE, and at the Balmoral School of Piping. I have been playing the bagpipes for many years, and I have won many piping awards across the eastern United States and in Canada. Not always a solo piper, I marched with the Laurel Highlanders Pipes and Drums for many years, serving as Pipe Sergeant there as well. Choose a bagpiper with the formal training necessary to evoke the elegance of the highland instrument.

Personnel

Sean O'Donnell: Pittsburgh Bagpiper

Jimmy McIntosh, John Duxbury, Simon Fraser University Pipe Band, Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band.

What to Expect

Typical Gig Duration: 1 - 180 minutes

have played the bagpipes for many weddings, and my versatility and experience ensure you will have exactly what you want for your wedding day. Choose accompaniment that will help make your wedding perfect, and create a moment in your new life that everyone will talk about the rest of their lives. Some common musical arrangements are processing before the bridal party; processing before the bride; playing at the altar before the ceremony; processing out before the bride and groom; and playing as the guests leave the chapel area. Also not uncommon is having a bagpiper at your wedding reception, typically playing as or before the bridal party enters.

I play a variety of appropriately bright tunes, and I will be happy to discuss composing an original piece of music to commemorate your special event. Requests are honored to the best of my ability: If I don’t know the tune, I am more than happy to learn it.

Stage/Setup Requirements:
I bring my own show!

Additional Notes:
I'm just a man with a bagpipe. I need about 4 square feet of room and a height clearance of about 7 feet.

Set/Song/Sequence List:
The usual suspects: Amazing Grace, Scotland the Brave, Danny Boy, etc.
Plus a plethora of contemporary and original tunes.
