Why hire Phil Rosenthal?

A nice varied show - some bluegrass, some Americana, classic country and folk, with some good instrumental pieces on banjo and mandolin mixed in.

OtherThank you, your performance at the Middletown Senior Center was greatly appreciated by all. My Sam, who has recently passed, loved banjo and klezmer music.....you brought tears to my eyes with your banjo and I brought him with me in my heart to hear you perform....well done and you did get my feet tapping as well!

Overview

About

Phil Rosenthal first became interested in bluegrass and traditional country music at the age of 12, and soon began playing banjo, guitar and mandolin and writing his own songs. Through the years his varied career has included tenures in the Seldom Scene, Old Dog, and the Sommers Rosenthal Family Band, and performances at the White House, the Grand Ole Opry and other venues around the world. Phil’s original compositions have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe and others. His award-winning series of bluegrass recordings for children, produced on his own label, American Melody, have helped bring a new generation to traditional music. “A Treasury of Bluegrass and Country Songs,” finds Phil revisiting some of his all-time favorite tunes, adding additional lyrics here and there. In addition, the album includes a number of his own compositions. Joined by family members Beth and Naomi Sommers, Daniel Rosenthal, his parents Lil and Irv, plus other talented guests, Phil conveys his love and excitement for this music which continues to grow with his years of experience.
