Amazing Children's Entertainer!!
Kathy performed at my daughter's first birthday party and it was truly a memorable experience!! The children and adults loved her!! My daughter was bopping to the tunes and playing with all the props she incorporates in her show. Kathy was able to engage all the children, ages ranging form 1 to 13. In addition to being a wonderful children's entertainer she is extremely professional and easy to work with. Kathy kept in contact with me before the event, answering my e-mails promptly, and coordinating the logistics with the restaurant. I highly recommend Kathy from Music to My Ears Entertainment!!

About
Kathy Manese (AKA "Miss Kathy") is a professionally trained singer & guitarist and a former early childhood music teacher (working with babies, toddlers & elementary school age kids). She has been performing her music show with the aid of her husband for almost 9 years & she has performed for well over 10,000 children in Central & Northern NJ.
She has immense patience for children & she has experience working with children with Special Needs (Autism & Cerebral Palsy). Her specialty is children's birthday party entertainment (1st-5th birthday parties) as it can be difficult to find kids entertainers who are willing & able to work with this age group. Parents are often amazed at how she is able to engage all of the children at the birthday parties (they are typically between 1-7 years old, but babies & the older kids (8-10 year olds) also enjoy the show).
Children want to be seen & heard & Kathy gives the children lots of opportunities throughout the show to chime in with suggestions or to just spontaneously get up and dance (even when singing songs like "Old MacDonald"). Teachers who attend the parties often spot right away that Kathy was a teacher as she gives lots of praise to the children throughout the show (and kids just eat that up!!!).
Kathy has been studying voice with a Juliard graduate for over a decade & she was a Big Band lead singer, she has sung opera at friends weddings, folk music at coffee houses, cantored in church & she even used to be in a pop band that toured clubs in New York City (she performed on TV and at "The Bitter End" and "China Club"). Her vocal training & eclectic background allows her to sing versitile singing styles from classical to Folk to Jazz and R&B.
Kathy is a well rounded musician who learned guitar when she was 12 years old and she continues to study piano which is one of her all time favorite things to do!
She loves to share the joy of music with young children as she knows from her own personal experience that what you fall in love with when you are young stays with you for the rest of your life.

Influences
When I first learned to play guitar my original influence was Carly Simon. I also loved folk singers like James Taylor, Jim Croce and Simon & Garfunkle. And of course I love Elvis & the Beatles. Over the years as I explored other musical styles such as Motown, country, blues, gospel and R&B. I have been influenced by Patsy Cline, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt. I also have been a lead singer in a big band, where I learned to love the music of Ella Fitzgerald and other great jazz and big band singers. I also study voice (opera & musical theater) and I love Pavarotti (of course!), Kathleen Battle and Anna Netrebko. Recently I have been enjoying Adelle and other popular contemporary artists. As you can tell I really love a variety of musical styles. I just love listening to great singers! And I love to play piano and have many influences there as well.
What to Expect
Typical Gig Duration: 60 - 120 minutes
Lots of audience participation! Great for babies & kids from 1-8/10 years old -- We specialize in 1st-5th birthdays, holiday parties, summer camp & more. Live guitar & singing. The children play with bubles, drums, scarves, shakers & more! They even get to play with "Miss Kathy's" guitar, a Caribbean Steel Drum & sing into a real microphone.
Stage/Setup Requirements:
Clear space on the floor for the kids & I to sing & dance & play
Electrical outlet for sound system & bubble machine.
Indoors or outdoors (weather permitting & highly recommend being in the shade)
Additional Notes:
We use a high end Bose Tower sound system (L1 Model II).
Set/Song/Sequence List:
We feature classic children's songs such as Old MacDonald, B-I-N-G-O, If You're Happy & You Know It and more. We also include some adult party music to make it fun for the whole crowd.
