Why hire Michael Michael?
Born a sharecropper's son, Michael came late to the Comedy table, but not the Dinner table. Long hours spent working in the fields made Michael realize the futility of life on the farm. After leaving for the big city at the tender age of 11, Michael worked the Docks and Wharves of Allentown PA. Since Allentown PA is a land-locked city, work was in short supply. Adopted by a kindly Syrian family and promptly sold to Gypsies, Michael traveled the World, albeit in a shipping container. A stint as a performing Bear was a revelation. And that's when he was bitten, not by the comedy bug, but by a REAL Bear. A real horny Bear. That's another story...so if you read this far, I hope you smiled!
About
I'm a career Law Enforcement Officer, Gourmet Cook, and Professional Fisherman. I'd rather make people laugh, than prosecute them! I'm a generally clean comedian, most of my material comes from life experience as an Army Brat. I traveled the world as my Father was assigned to new duty stations. It's hard enough to be the 'new kid' but when you're the 'new fat kid' it makes fitting in even harder. I learned at an early age that laughter was the key, especially when it came time to start dating etc. Women will overlook a few extra pounds if you can make them laugh...what a revelation! I've been practicing stand-up comedy for about 40 years and finally took the stage in January 2011. I am HOOKED!
I can do a set from 5 minutes to an hour and keep the crowd engaged. I've played clubs from the Poconos to New York, to Longswamp Township. I've had the opportunity to open for some great comedians including The Reverend Bob Levy, Joe Conte, Amy Carlson, Keith Purnell, Joe Fernandes, and Mark Juretus among others.
Influences
My earliest influences were Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, Bill Cosby, Flip Wilson, Robert Klein, Cheech and Chong, George Carlin and Redd Foxx.
What to Expect
Typical Gig Duration: 10 - 60 minutes
Self deprecating humor, interaction with audience members, humorous swipes at the venue, locale, or individuals in the crowd. I do a bit on Pennsylvania-isms and Pennsylvania Cuisine in order to familiarize the crowd with my home state.
Additional Notes:
I demand that all the air entering the venue be filtered through bird-seed and that the letter M never be spoken in my presence.
