About

Marva is a regular performer on the celebrity tribute circuit these days, appearing everywhere from Japan to Europe.
She hails from Seattle, Washington where she was raised as the only girl of four children, born April 22 (a Taurus). Her mother and father (a Baptist minister) both urged her to her first singing engagements as a member of the choir at the Saint John's Baptist Church in Seattle, Washington.
From singing in the church, she segued to musical theater, where she initially landed roles in such productions as Little shop of Horrors, Porgy and Bess and Aint Misbehavin'. Los Angeles was next on the path to success as she spent time there to work with renowned vocal coach Seth Riggs and formed her band, "Marva Scott and the Motor City Revue", dedicated to the Detroit sound, therein discovering her passion for celebrity impersonation.
Expanding her horizons, she set off to live in Paris, France for a year.
Her appearances in Paris led to a number of extended engagements. One of which brought her back to the states to work in the main showroom at Ceasars Palace in Atlantic City. During that stint in Atlantic City, Ms. Scott enrolled in the Lee Straussberg Institute, studying acting that year in NYC during the day, and hurrying back to Atlantic City after class to do her shows at Ceasars Palace. She was spotted by NY producer Ted Lorenz and was asked to join his Las Vegas production, Enter The Night, at the Stardust Hotel where she performed as the principal female vocalist in that show for three years. Since then, she has continued to perform in countless venues along the Las Vegas strip and around the world.
Marva is the consummate entertainer. Today her vibrant song stylizations as a jazz singer (due to her passion for jazz improvisation) and her celebrity impersonations of such musical legends as Diana Ross, Whoopi Goldberg, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner and Donna Summer are warmly received by audiences everywhere. A
Marva is a member of Actors Equity and International Alliance of Theater and Stage Employees (IATSE) local 720 in Las Vegas.

Influences

Other acts I do are Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Whoopi Goldberg-Got Whoopi?, and Tina Turner Tributes. My work can be seen extensively on the internet, and I have not only been influenced, but inspired by these artists, and many others.

What to Expect

Typical Gig Duration: 6 - 25 minutes

My audience members can expect a polished professional well delivered performance of a veteran Las Vegas showroom entertainer. Songs dynamically delivered, audience graciously engaged, sometimes invited to join in onstage, but always encouraged to sing along with those well known songs of the disco era. Beautiful costuming and a playlist tailored to the time slot set aside, the client should expect to be transformed back to a era when Studio 54 was the place to be, a Saturday Night "Fever" was a good thing, and when polyester was king. Donna Summer Impersonator/Marva Scott audiences can expect to be charmed and entertained. I've been doing it for over 15 years in Las Vegas and around the world. Additional Notes:
1) A secured dressing area is essential to the integrityy of the performers, in the spirit of keeping performers separate from guests until showtime or such time which is appropriate.

2)Water, soft drinks in that area

3) 1 Michrophone

4) DJ with adequate set up for playing background tracks for the show. OR 1 hour rehearsal with band and charts if live musicians are to back up the performance.

5) Adequate stage lighting (to be discussed) based on the venue and the size of the party
