About
Graduate of Institute of Piping, Glasgow, Scotland. Graduate EUSPBA, Piping Adjudicator, Fellow Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance, Former Highland Dance Adjudicator. I teach Piping as a course at Phillips Exeter and Andover, St Paul's School and Groton School. I also teach the NH Police Assoc Pipes and Drums and the NH PIpes and Drums Grade 4 and 5 bands. My school, the NH School of Scottish Arts trains solo pipers to compete at all levels as well as Highland Dancers and fiddlers. I perform and direct in Celtic concerts. I am one of the top professional pipers in the North Eastern US. At 57 years old I have spent my entire lifetime (and from 18 years old as a professional) in this field and have a very large repertoire as well as many experiences to draw from. I use Gig salad to get gigs - especially on weekends to help supplement my income.
Personnel
Campbell Webster: Piper, drummer, fiddler
Marielle Webster: Fiddler, Highland Dancers
Influences
My teaching and performing Piobaireachd was influenced by Donald MacPherson, Glasgow, Duncan Johnstone, College of Piping, Ed Neigh, Ontario Canada.
My fiddle background of tunes I attribute to Barbara McOwen and Alastair Fraser with inspiration from my two children who both play fiddle.
My Pipe Band experience began in Canada winning Gr 4 at 16 thanks to Archie Cairns. Jake Watson gave me further challenge with a Grade 2 band and then Worcester Kilties completed my Pipe Band challenges. I started the Boston Police Pipe Band, resurrected the Boston Fire Band and now teach the NH Police Pipe Band and NH PIpes and Drums, Grades 4 and 5.
What to Expect
Typical Gig Duration: 15 - 4 minutes
From pastoral serene pieces for funerals or before wedding services to upbeat tunes as recessionals for a wedding, bagpipe music can be a mood changer for an entire group. Besides Highland Pipes, smallpipes can be played for a quieter version. Scottish, Irish music - either one or both. Specific tunes can be learned for special events. Adaptations of fiddle tunes or hymns can also be done.
Stage/Setup Requirements:
mic for smallpipes, fiddles
Additional Notes:
Highland Pipes do not need a mic in general. Smallpipes do unless a very quiet setting.
Set/Song/Sequence List:
Most Scottish or Irish Pipe tunes are on our lists. After 50 years there are not many tunes that I have not played.
With my children, fiddle tunes can be Irish, Cape Breton and Scottish...
