I do originals and top 40 hits to oldies to classical, reggae, to jazz. Basically almost any request I can do the job. I also can DJ and have an electronic / rock / reggae party band as well. I'm a seasoned singer / musician of 15 yrs. We've performed at cruise ships and other major profile events. Beginning in 2004, lead singer / producer Genesis Ian began collaborating with a variety of artists, working in multiple disciplines. Score releases include "Back In The Day" starring Ving Rhames, The Castle, NBA Lakers, MTV Cribs, Cherry Hill, DMX Soul Of A Man, variety of television commercials, and worked with Seal, Busta Rhymes, Laurin Hill, Nate Dogg, Spliff Star, and is currently producing future projects with Redman.
In April 2006, Genesis began working on the debut album of his own titled "Smoke & Mirrors". Featured artist Rah Diggah of Flipmode Squad, and Coolie High of Chico and Cool Wadda.
Shortly after, Genesis met Spliff Star's producer Maq Mozart which led them to collaborate together. A couple of months later Maq introduced Wutang Clan's drummer, DIon Nueble to work with Genesis Ian. Nueble had worked with many amazing artist such as Lauryn Hill, Red Man, Snoop, Game to name a few. At the time Genesis Ian was a solo artist so we had hired guns at every show. Performed at the Keyclub, Whiskey A-Go Go, Rainbow, House Of Blues, The Viper Room, and over 200 venues of greater Los Angeles. During those years the only members that was a regular was Dion and Maq. Eventually Maq started other projects and just became Genesis's studio producer. Dion and Genesis continued to search for the right bassist for 2 years and finally discovered Toly Ramirez.
Toly Ramirez was in a band called Los Tetas a Chilean Funk band formed in 1995. One of their album was recognized by a number of Latin artists as one of the best Latin-American funk works ever. After we had played our first show with Toly we knew he was the guy. Currently long time friend fellow funk musician Jonare (Keyboardist, guitarist, & vocalist) has re-united with Genesis and has been inducted to De5tro. Last but not the least we've just added our missing link DJ / multi-genre producer/ guitarist /vocalist, Johnny Angel to our line up. This has been an incredible year.
Since 2010 we had developed a hybrid style in the genre of live dubstep, electronica, and new wave post punk mixed with hip-hop, reggae, and soul resulting in a new genre "rockstep" and the current genre afropunk.
