Wonderful experience
Animal Encounters was a big hit at my kids’ birthday party. Kim and John brought animals into our dining room for presentation and petting. The kids get to handle them and learned about them at the same time. ( 5-6 years old and couple younger ones). The presentation was very hands-on, educational and exciting. They really made our kids’ birthday party memorable. They are very professional- arrived early to set up, returned calls and emails promptly, answered questions, discussed the format/setup and recommended animal options . The rate is very reasonable and totally worth it. We are very happy with the experience and will recommend them to friends.

Invite ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS to provide a memorable experience at your next event. From small to large gatherings, we can tailor an exciting, age-appropriate and educational ENCOUNTER animal show or ZOO FOR YOU petting zoo that's sure to bring lots of smiles to your guests.
We offer a variety of ENCOUNTERS packages so you may select just the right show for your special event. Typically an hour in length, your guests will interact with a select group of fascinating creatures and hear about their origins, habitats and more. These programs are excellent entertainment choices for birthday parties, pre-schools, educational enrichment, senior centers, club meetings and other small gatherings.
Order up a ZOO FOR YOU and we’ll set up an awesome 10’X20’ petting zoo with lots of amazing animals, including familiar barnyard friends such as goats, chickens and a charming Kune Kune pig, as well as exotics such as baby wallabies and a Patagonian Cavy. ZOO FOR YOU can be set up for events lasting from 2 hours to all day.
Animal Encounters is a family-owned business which began as an outgrowth of Kim Connolly's passion for animals and her experience as a science educator. Over the years, Kim has brought many kinds of animals to her classroom teaching and has worked as a zookeeper and zoo educator. Additionally, Kim has been a leader in 4-H programs for many years in King County, WA and has recently launched Puget Paws 4H, a Bellevue-based club which has introduced rabbit and cavy agility competition to the area.
Today Animal Encounters offers the widest variety of mobile programs in western Washington state. Whether you're planning and birthday party or public event, you can count on us to provide many options to fit every need and budget!
What to Expect
Our ENCOUNTERS programs are themed to connect with the interests of your group and are a perfect fit for birthday parties, K-8 curriculum enrichment, libraries, preschools, senior centers, clubs and scout troops. We also offer "a la carte" programs where you select your favorites from our many animal friends. From time to time we have baby animals which can make for memorable bottle-feeding (or dropper-feeding) experiences- we try to bring them along whenever we're able and the babies are up for it.
Our ZOO FOR YOU program is great for larger birthday parties, festivals, block parties, customer appreciation days, family reunions, barbeques- you name it, we can do it!
A fresh take on the traditional petting zoo, we provide a 200 square foot portable pen with barnyard favorites as well as exotics. Typically we’ll bring 15-20 animals, including: Bennett’s Wallaby (our new baby wallaby, Ruby Roo, is cute as a button!), Patagonian Cavy, Kune Kune Pig, Pygmy Goats, Bunnies, Guinea Pigs, Chinchillas, Chickens, and a Goose.
All programs can be provided indoors or outside- we've set up in barns, garages, driveways, classrooms, churches and backyards. When you book with us, we'll discuss the particulars of your location and let you know what, if any, accommodations we may need.
