What to expect

At my painting party’s you will get the whole experience of creating something amazing. I will patiently instruct you step by step to what brush to use, when to clean it, how to mix a color, how to brush the paint, how to create a similar painting. The only way to get it exact is by taking a photograph of the master copy and printing it out. We have fun and laugh while making something memorable.

Also while creating and the participants are over taken by creativity and want to paint something different or add things not suggested, I totally encourage it. You can not stop creativity and just allow it to speak.

About

My name is Peter Yip, known as Yippy the Artist. I am a creator, educator, and dreamer who believes that art isn’t just something you do; it’s something you live and grow through. Creativity has always been my way of understanding the world and reconnecting with that childlike wonder we all have inside.

I was born in Hong Kong and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up surrounded by graffiti, hip-hop, comic books, and pop culture shaped my creative eye. I spent countless hours sketching superheroes, album covers, and characters from my imagination. Art became my escape, my therapy, and my voice.

I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where I earned an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Design. FIT taught me how to balance creativity with structure and how design can tell a story that connects emotionally with people.

While studying at FIT, I discovered screen printing. The process of pulling ink across a screen and instantly creating wearable art was transformative. I loved how an idea could become something tangible in just a few hours. That moment sparked my passion for hands-on creation and eventually led me to start my own clothing brand, dylated. The name came from the idea of pupils dilating when inspiration strikes.

Not long after, I opened a screen printing shop called Delicately Made Printing with my friend and business partner, Bang. Together we focused on high-quality custom apparel and youth programs that taught branding, design, and entrepreneurship through screen printing. Watching young artists bring their ideas to life reminded me why I fell in love with art in the first place.

As my career evolved, I moved from designer to educator. I began teaching art to elementary and high school students, showing them that art is not about perfection but exploration. One of my favorite projects at St. Mary’s Catholic High School involved students designing their own logos and printing them on t-shirts. Seeing their excitement as they held something they imagined and made real was incredibly rewarding.

My teaching philosophy is simple: art should be fun, freeing, and sometimes messy. I encourage students and participants to embrace the process and let go of fear. When you stop worrying about making mistakes, you rediscover your inner child. I have seen adults who haven’t painted in years laugh with joy as they play with color again. That moment of release is what I strive to create in every class.

After years of teaching and creating, I decided to bring all my experiences together. That is how Yippy Arts was born. It is a family-run creative studio built on the belief that art is for everyone. We offer painting parties, workshops, murals, apparel design, and other creative services that help people express themselves and reconnect with their imagination.

At Yippy Arts, I view creativity as a form of therapy. In a busy, often stressful world, making art allows us to slow down, reset, and reconnect with the playful side of ourselves. Whether painting, sculpting, or experimenting with new materials, I want people to feel that art doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful.

Outside of teaching, I continue to explore my own artistic projects that reflect my love for pop culture, anime, music, and design. I create murals, custom denim jackets, tufted rugs, and even BMW engine cover art pieces. My BMW Engine Cover Collection merges automotive design with Star Wars themes, celebrating imagination and craftsmanship. No matter what I create, my message remains the same: “You think it. We create it.”

Over the years, I have collaborated with musicians, brands, and record labels, but my greatest joy still comes from helping others discover their own creativity. I have watched shy students grow confident through art and adults rediscover their sense of play. Art heals, empowers, and connects us.

As both an artist and a father, I understand the importance of legacy. Building Yippy Arts with my wife, Anny, has been a journey of passion and purpose. Together, we strive to make creativity accessible, uplifting, and unforgettable for everyone who walks through our doors.

My journey has been filled with paint stains, late nights, and plenty of happy accidents, but every step has shaped who I am today. From studying at FIT to running a print shop, from teaching kids to hosting art workshops, I have learned that art is less about the final product and more about the process.

Today, I see myself not only as an artist but as a guide. My goal is to help others reconnect with their creative spark, laugh, and leave with both artwork and a renewed sense of joy. Whether I am painting a mural, leading a family workshop, or teaching someone how to screen print, I bring the same energy that first drew me to art: curiosity, playfulness, and love for creating.

Art is not just about what you make. It’s about what it makes of you. Pick up a brush, make a mess, and let go of perfection. You might just find the most creative version of yourself waiting to be rediscovered.
