About
Yapa! is a Kentucky-based high energy Latin band blending cumbia, Andean folk, and funk to splash jam flavor into irresistible dance grooves. Our collective (Ecuador, Mexico, Canary Islands, US) captivates audiences with lyrics and rhythms resonant with the humanity of the immigrant experience. Music that creates a movement.
Yapa is a Quechua (Peru/ Ecuador) word: “a little something extra.”
Yapa! is music that creates a movement. Our audiences are a mix of folks from around the world who find community in deep grooves, and a message that speaks to the immigrant experience within the human experience.
A Yapa! dance floor is a space where people come together to celebrate our beautifully diverse world.
We draw from a deep well of musical expertise, including Andean folk, cumbia, rock, jazz, bluegrass, world music and West African rhythms.
