The show 'Why is Rock and Roll?' is a fun combination of a two-man play, rock concert, and TED talk. One minute they are speaking directly to you about the importance of Elvis' first single, and the next minute one is Bob Dylan and one is John Lennon (complete with wigs and jackets) discussing music with one another at the Delmonico Hotel. Complete with a full cocktail drum kit, a keyboard and countless time period guitars Jay White and Jim Algar play pieces of over 40 songs covering everything from Bill Haley to Elvis, the Beatles, Chuck Berry, the Who, Jim Morison, the Supremes and many more.

The show is high energy, fun and informative. The show exists in three forms, a 20-minute music and storytelling, 40-minute and full 90-minute show with intermission. That said, it is extremely malleable and can be tailored to fit just about any space or time constraint. The thing we perhaps like best is it seems to be enjoyed by all ages. We have had audiences of college students to families to people that lived through all of Rock and Roll's history.
Jay White and Jim Algar have both studied music and acting throughout their lives so the putting together of this show was fairly organic. What started as a simple and fun way to talk to school kids has progressed to a full stage show. Both men have kids and wives and busy lives but love any moments free to grab instruments and play.
We come with everything we need including microphones, sound equipment, props, and even curtains. A basic lighting wash of the stage is all that is necessary, and if there is a sound system in the theater or space already we can plug into that if it makes it easier for the event space planners.

We play pieces of over 40 songs that span three decades.
The list is so long as it includes everyone that influenced music as we came out of WW II. The main influences, however, are Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Jim Morrosin, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix.
Nothing is needed though it is sometimes advantageous to plug into a theater sound system already in place.
