Whozamama takes you to the Bayou

These are fine musicians who will get your hips moving and your spirit soaring. I love their heart opening, joyful music. So wish they played more shows in Seattle. I wish for them to have a regular gig at a Seattle venue but would travel anywhere in a 3 state radius to experience their music. It’s that fine.

Cuba

We were so lucky for Claudette and Tami to travel with us in Cuba. They brought their instruments and played, entertaining both us and the local Cubans. It was a time never to forget. Cayo Largo Cuba. Had to put in Miami to post

Second Time Around

They played our backyard party 5 years ago and we had them back this year. Very fun band. Gave us a dance lesson. They played without amplification for our party -- were set up in minutes and then playing. We'll probably see them in another 5 years!

Fun Fun Fun Danceable Music, Totally Enjoyable

I booked Whozyaman for my wife's 50th birthday party, we hired Sean Donovan to teach Cajun dance lessons. We had some much fun, many of our guest said "great band where did you find them", my cousin texted me this morning and asked me how to book them for his next party. If you want to have fun, dance, and enjoy good folk music, these gals/guys are the trick. Oh did I say authentic, the lead singer is from Dulac LA. Dulac is at the end of the world in the French-est part of Louisiana.

Thanks Todd! What a fun evening too! This was our very first time using Gig Salad. Thanks so much for all your patience as I figured out how to use the site. Happy Birthday Audrey! Tami, Claudette (Boudreaux), Linda and Alexina

Price Range: $200-$600 per hour plus $1 - $3 per mile travel.

Gig Length: 120 - 240 minutes

Languages: English, French, Spanish

What to Expect

First-- the tune will catch them as something different--the rhythm is unique and the words are cajun french. Then they will notice the accordion, rubboard, triangle, fiddle-- all elements louisiana music .

Soon, they'll want to move--- it's all about the dancing!! We strive to make it accessible to those who maybe have never heard or danced to this type of music by offering a very simple dance lesson by our own cajun--Claudette. She makes if fun and easy. Guest especially enjoy her accent and passion for the music. Those familiar with the genre, will immediately appreciate our authenticity and committment to the traditional style of this wonderful music that all of us have studied and played for over 20 years. Clients can expect our band to be prompt, professional and dressed appropriately for the event.

About

WHOZYAMAMA is a Cajun, Creole and Zydeco band-- led by Claudette Boudreaux from Dulac Louisiana. Claudette, Tami and Claudia played in the all-women cajun dance band "Les Femmes d'Enfer for over a decade. They join members of "Bayou Boogie", "Cayenne" and "Delta Reys" to form WHOZYAMAMA. The duet (Claudette and Tami) teach cajun music and dance at Lark Camp in Mendocino, CA. The full band plays locally in the greater puget sound area. They hail from Port Townsend, Bainbridge Island, Lynnwood and Shoreline.

Clients may choose from an array of band combinations, from an acoustic house party, to full amplified concert/dance.

"house party"-- $200/hr plus $1/mile travel. Includes accordion, fiddle, guitar, vocals, small sound system or fully acoustic. Great for background music for a cajun dinner or party. The sound is a traditional cajun creole acoustic music. For this type of gig, we would just need a small space and shelter from the elements. We are happy to provide a dance lesson, lead a music jam, or teach a song.

"Dance party" --$600/hr plus $3/mile travel. Includes accordion, fiddles, rubboard, electric guitar, electric bass, drums, full sound system, french vocals, dance lesson. 2 hour minimum. Great for a festival venues, weddings, large gatherings, bars and dances. The sound is a rockin'!

Additional Booking Notes

If we are playing acoustically, we just need a sheltered location and chair.

If we are playing with our own sound system, we need power, shelter and a space 10' by 8' to set up. It takes us at least an hour to set up sound.

If the event is providing sound, we need a 12 channel mixer, 4 Direct-ins, 3 vocal mics.
