Alexander's Ragtime Band is your all-in-one source for the sounds of the early 20th century. Taking inspiration from Traditional Jazz, Hot Jazz, New Orleans Jazz, and Dixieland, ARB is your very own slice of the 1920s century in the 2020s! Perfectly at home in jazz clubs and crawfish boils alike, Alexander's Ragtime Band is a versatile ensemble capable of intimate cocktail hour trios to full, show-stopping jazz bands. Along with period-accurate repertoire, ARB specializes in Top40 music from the past 60 years, ingeniously arranged into its own unique blend of traditional harmony and modern sound. The group can perform entirely acoustically or amplified with it's very own complimentary sound support and power, and it's small footprint allows it to set up almost anywhere.

Looking for something a little more than background music? Alexander's Amazing Time-Traveling Contraption is a modular 1-2 hour musical revue, complete with singing, dancing, comedy, costumes, and crowd participation, uniquely constructed to be an entirely unique show every performance.

Alexander's Ragtime Band is San Diego's very own cohort of time-traveling musicians! Equipped with nothing but their wits, their instruments, and approximately 47 million Lira from the now defunct Ottoman Empire, Alexander's Ragtime Band will try to strike it big as Southern California's newest, oldest musical revue. Whether it's Mardi Gras, July 4th, or Amnesty Day, join Alexander and his merry band of misfits, con artists, and thieves as they play, perform, and maybe even steal their way across San Diego! So, please, Step Right Up!

We are a highly flexible, situationally mobile ensemble that plays an eclectic mix of traditional jazz standards and modern songs with a unique 20s twist. The group is highly customizable, with configurations for all situations and setups available for anywhere from 5 to 10 musicians. All configurations can be performed acoustically or amplified, and the group can provide all sound support and power needs. Please take a look at the offerings below and see which would make the most sense for your event and budget, and please keep in mind that instrumentation NOT including a piano is capable of performing stationary or on the move! All packages come with a complimentary in-person walkthrough/talkdown of the event with the bandleader. On-site rehearsals are available at an additional charge, and our 1-2 hour stage show and revue is only available with the inclusion of a Vocalist.

OPTION A (SOLO PIANO)
Option A is our smallest and most intimate option, featuring just one solo pianist. Capable of performing reduced versions of our entire traditional and Top40 repertoire, this option is excellent for cocktail hours, dinner parties, and other intimate settings with limited space or noise concerns. This option is not mobile, and does not include our 1-2 hour stage show and revue. Pricing for Option A begins at $400.

OPTION B (2-PIECE)
Option B is our next smallest iteration, and is ideal for those situations where Option A is just a little too small. Option B features 2 musicians: a Pianist, and your choice of EITHER Vocalist/Trumpet/Clarinet/Saxophone/Trombone. This option is capable of performing reduced versions of our entire traditional and Top40 repertoire, and is perfect for intimate settings. This option is not mobile, and does not include our 1-2 hour stage show and revue. Pricing for Option A begins at $600.

OPTION C (3-PIECE)
Option C is our trio option, and is where Alexander's Ragtime Band begins to take shape. This option consists of:Tuba OR Upright Bass, Piano Or Jazz Banjo, and your choice of EITHER Vocals, Jazz Banjo/Optional Vocals (if not already selected), Piano (if not already selected), Trumpet, Clarinet, Saxophone, or Trombone. This option is capable of performing reduced versions of our entire traditional and Top40 repertoire, and selections from our 1-2 hour stage show and revue upon request (with a Vocalist). Option C is capable of performing while moving without a Piano. Pricing for Option C begins at $800.

OPTION D (4-PIECE)
Option D is perfect fits for situations that need a bit more presence, like larger cocktail parties, dinner parties, or outdoor events. This option includes: Tuba OR Upright Bass, Piano OR Banjo/Optional Vocalist, and your choice of 2 of the following: Vocals, Jazz Banjo/Optional Vocals (if not already selected), Piano (if not already selected), Reduced Drumkit, Trumpet, Clarinet, Saxophone, and Trombone. This option is capable of performing reduced versions of our entire traditional and Top40 repertoire, and selections from our 1-2 hour stage show and revue upon request (with a Vocalist). Option D is capable of performing while moving without a Piano. Pricing for Option D begins at $1,000.

OPTION E (5-PIECE)
Option E is the beginning of our "standard" offerings, and is capable of performing a majority of our 1-2 hour stage show and revue upon request (with a Vocalist). This option includes: Tuba OR Upright Bass, Piano OR Banjo/Optional Vocalist, Reduced OR Complete Drumkit, and your choice of 2 of the following: Vocals, Jazz Banjo/Optional Vocals (if not already selected), Piano (if not already selected), Trumpet, Clarinet, Saxophone, and Trombone. Option D is capable of performing while moving without a Piano, and is excellent for large cocktail hours, receptions, and medium-sized outdoor events. Pricing for Option E begins at $1,250.

OPTION F (6-PIECE)
Option F is a supplemental iteration of the previous option, and is capable of performing a majority of our 1-2 hour stage show and revue upon request (with a Vocalist). This option includes: Tuba OR Upright Bass, Piano OR Banjo/Optional Vocalist, Reduced OR Complete Drumkit, and your choice of 3 of the following: Vocals, Jazz Banjo/Optional Vocals (if not already selected), Piano (if not already selected), Trumpet, Clarinet, Saxophone, and Trombone. Option D is capable of performing while moving without a Piano, and is excellent for large cocktail hours, receptions, and medium-to-large sized outdoor events. Pricing for Option F begins at $1,500.

OPTION G (7-PIECE)
Option G is the original Alexander's Ragtime Band, as it was when it formed nearly 100 (or 3...) years ago! This option is capable of performing our 1-2 hour stage show and revue in its entirety upon request, and is capable of performing on the go without a Piano. This option includes: Tuba OR Upright Bass, Piano OR Banjo/Optional Vocalist, Reduced OR Complete Drumkit, and your choice of 4 of the following: Vocals, Jazz Banjo/Optional Vocals (if not already selected), Piano (if not already selected), Trumpet, Clarinet, Saxophone, and Trombone. Option G can perform for large cocktail parties, but is best suited for receptions, large outdoor events, and center-stage engagements. Pricing for Option G begins at $1,750.

OPTION H (8-PIECE)
Ladies and Gentlemen, step right up; come witness The Most Exciting Event of Last Century! Option H is Alexander's Ragtime Band as it's meant to be heard, in all its ephemeral glory! This is our largest and most complete option, and is capable of performing our 1-2 hour stage show and revue, as well as an extra hour of material, in its entirety upon request. This option includes: Tuba OR Upright Bass, Piano OR Banjo/Optional Vocalist, Reduced OR Complete Drumkit, and your choice of 5 of the following: Vocals, Jazz Banjo/Optional Vocals (if not already selected), Piano (if not already selected), Trumpet, Clarinet, Saxophone, and Trombone. Option G is the most at home in front of large audiences, like receptions or concert stages, and is capable of performing on the go without a Piano. Pricing for Option G begins at $2,000.
