What to expect

Clients can expect polished, expressive live piano music tailored to the atmosphere of the event. I work closely with each client in advance to understand the setting, timing, musical preferences, and any special requests, then build a program that fits the occasion.

For weddings, I can provide prelude music, processional and recessional selections, ceremony music, cocktail-hour repertoire, and music for receptions or dinners. For private and corporate events, I can provide elegant background music or a more featured performance depending on the setting. Classical repertoire is a specialty, but programs can also include familiar standards, unique arrangements, and requested selections when appropriate.

I am also available to collaborate with singers and instrumentalists, whether for a ceremony, memorial service, recital, or other special event.

About

Tim Jones is a concert and collaborative pianist and Visiting Lecturer in Collaborative Piano at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He holds the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

As a soloist, Tim has performed throughout the United States and abroad and has received recognition in national competitions, including the MTNA Young Artist Piano Competition and the National Chopin Piano Competition. His professional work also includes extensive chamber, vocal, and instrumental collaboration, giving him immense experience in working with singers, instrumentalists, ensembles, and other event professionals.

Based in Bloomington, Indiana, Tim is available for weddings, private events, corporate functions, memorial services, concerts, receptions, and other special occasions throughout central Indiana. He can provide elegant solo piano music ranging from classical repertoire to accessible event selections, and he is also available for events requiring collaboration with vocalists or instrumentalists.

Additional booking notes

For performances on acoustic piano, the venue should provide a well-maintained, properly tuned piano and an appropriate piano bench. For important ceremonies, recitals, or featured performances, I strongly recommend confirming the condition and tuning of the instrument in advance.

If an acoustic piano is not available, a suitable professional-quality digital piano or keyboard can be arranged by the client or discussed during booking. Digital setups require access to reliable electrical power and, depending on the size of the venue, appropriate amplification.

For outdoor performances, the piano/keyboard and performer must be fully protected from rain, direct moisture, and unsafe weather conditions, with a stable, level performance surface.

Please provide reasonable access for arrival and setup before the event. Any unusual staging, amplification, ensemble, rehearsal, or equipment requirements should be discussed in advance so everything can be confirmed before the performance date.

Set list

Representative repertoire includes:

Classical: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy, Ravel, Rachmaninoff, Gershwin, and other major piano repertoire.

Weddings / ceremonies: traditional processionals and recessionals, lyrical classical works, sacred selections, and custom requests arranged or prepared in advance.

Private events / receptions: elegant classical selections, familiar standards, light jazz-influenced repertoire, Broadway and film favorites, and tasteful popular arrangements.

Featured performance: concert repertoire ranging from lyrical works to virtuosic showpieces.

I am happy to tailor programs to the event and can often accommodate specific requests with sufficient advance notice.
