Wedding by Weir

We hired Shelby as our day-of coordinator so we could hand over the logistics and enjoy our wedding. We had organized everything meticulously, with detailed, color-coded timelines. Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite. Although we appreciated the supplies she lent us, those favors were separate from the coordination services we paid for.

Before the wedding, important questions went unanswered for days, previously discussed details were forgotten or communicated incorrectly, and we increasingly found ourselves coordinating the coordinator. When we raised concerns, Shelby was unable to take or apply feedback and was defensive. We also became concerned about client confidentiality... Shelby inadvertently shared unrelated information about other couples and their weddings. This made us uncomfortable entrusting her with our own personal information, contracts, and wedding details. She arrived about 25 minutes late to our venue walkthrough without apologizing, and it ran significantly over because she repeatedly asked about details already discussed, forcing us to rearrange personal appointments.

On the wedding day, Shelby was scheduled to arrive at our suite at 1:00 PM. By 1:30, she had not arrived or responded to my message; she arrived around 2:00 PM without the florals she was supposed to bring and immediately rushed me to leave, despite us being ahead of schedule. My maid of honor had to step in to de-escalate the situation.

Communication failures continued. Shelby left a bridesmaid and a family member out of important day-of texts despite having their information, and they nearly missed photos and other timeline events. After we updated our family-photo plan, she communicated the outdated version to our family.

After the ceremony cues, we barely saw Shelby for the rest of the evening. She did not check in with us, our bridal party, or our families. Other vendors also barely saw her and asked us where our coordinator was, despite our having specifically requested communication and updates beforehand.

The most concerning incident occurred during cocktail hour, while vendors were transitioning the space for dinner. Shelby changed into a white, sparkly dress, changed her hair and makeup, and posed for a photo shoot with her assistant involving a saxophone. She also asked our wedding photographer to take photos of her while they were supposed to be photographing our guests. We have the photo but this site will not let us add it! We had not been told this would happen and found it inappropriate for our coordinator to use our wedding and photographer for personal promotional-style photos during a critical transition.

After the wedding, we needed to reach Shelby about where items had been left before we departed. She was unreachable for more than two hours, then said her phone had died. We later messaged her about our concerns, including the photo shoot. She read our messages but never responded, and we have not had a meaningful debrief.

To be fair, Shelby maintained a positive attitude through major weather-related changes, and we appreciated the supplies she lent us. However, those positives do not replace the coordination services we hired her to provide.

Our wedding was beautiful because our other vendors stepped up tremendously, and we are grateful to them. A day-of coordinator should reduce stress—not create more work, uncertainty, and the need to coordinate the coordinator. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Shelby for a wedding of our size.

Attending the Weir Wedding was the ultimate, artistic experience!
The decor for the ceremony was meticulously quaint and fanciful. Beautiful, dainty flowers,  everywhere.. with a gorgeous wedding party to match!
The music was GORGEOUS from the instruments playing classical pieces to the professional opera singer!!!!

The ceremony was creatively unique, to match the artistically oriented couple!
My favorite part of the ceremony was when the opera singer, accompanied by the instruments, finished his song, most climatically, precisely as the almost declared couple dipped into the most romantic kiss!!!! A display of artistic passion, it was!!!!

My second favorite part of the ceremony was the recessional, which was also cutting edge! As is NOT traditionally done, the Wedding party recessed first and each couple waited in a double line for the new couple to walk through. Once the newlyweds got to the middle of the parties line-up, the Weirs stopped, to kiss, as the music played and the wedding party tossed rose petals in the air, above them! It was extremely romantic and dreamy!

The cocktail hour was decadent, with whimsical decor, including tables set up with whimsical, musical quotes by the bride and groom; using a composers name in a new way! A sounds-like the composer's name, word, if you will! Very clever!
There was an ongoing slide show playing of the bride and groom and their families...growing up, to now and courting pictures, as well. It was lovely and informative, to watch.

The reception room was yet another richly decorated area, which was beautiful to look at as well as engaging stations, such as:
-Guest video record themselves, live, with their wishes for the B&G
-Message in champagne bottles - where guests can write messages for future, upcoming, years and place them in the bottles, for B&G to read when they get to that year!!! SO COOL!!!

-The musicians and singers were abundant!
-The Dj was great!
-The B&G table was exquisitely decorated, as if for the ROYAL couple!
-The cake was so musical and was a piece of art, in the room, the whole reception!

The Weirs prepared like none-other on their first dance! It was gorgeously, romantically done, with lifts and dips galore! A true artistic sight!!!!!

This was the most artistic, beautiful, romantic, well-thought-out Wedding I have ever been to, in my life!!!
Unforgettable, stand out and entertaining for each and every soul, there!
