The Waylon Hicks Project is a funky jazz band. We perform original material, jazz standards and rock and pop covers in a way you've never heard jazz played before! WHP has a brand of music and sound that is all our own and is accessible to all audiences. We are an energetic group who wows crowds on a regular basis and surprises those who aren't typically fans of jazz. Instrumentation includes various configurations of: Saxophone, Guitar and/or Keyboard, Bass and Drums. We are a professional, self efficient and self contained funky jazz experience.

Waylon Hicks is a graduate of the Conservatory of Music at University of the Pacific- home of the Brubeck Institute. He has lived in Southern California since 2005. Since his move, Waylon has become well known in the local musician network and has performed with many talented musicians and groups. His latest project, The Waylon Hicks Project was actually assembled by somewhat of an accident being quickly created as a band to fill in for another group he plays with that couldn't make a few booked shows. Wouldn't you know, the group worked out extremely well! The musicians connected from the very beginning and with that, The Waylon Hicks Project was born. While always staying true to his jazz roots, WHP’s sound is fresh and current causing many listeners to forget or not even realize they're listening to jazz. This group is very used to first timers and loves it when non-jazz fans come up after shows and mention how much they enjoyed the music, but always has the wow factor to appeal to avid jazz fans alike.
We are a fully self efficient group! Professional PA System that we provide and set up.
